The Woke Era is over. What now?

In the realm of foreign policy, a fundamentalist alliance would not be new. The best example of this is the U.S. support for Afghan jihadists against the Soviet Union.

Right-wing liberals try to make people believe that Wokeism is Marxist, therefore communist, therefore neither Western nor liberal. However, Trump’s recent inauguration should perhaps spare them the rigmarole, because the world has seen that the United States has changed its official doctrine. With the visibility of such an abrupt change, we can say: Wokeism was the official doctrine of the United States of America, its secular creed. Even the closest thing to an official church in the United States – the Episcopal Church, the American branch of the Anglican Church – has embraced Wokeism and has manifested itself in the figure of a female bishop who is in favor of trans children.

How did such a crazy creed gain the most powerful state in the world? This is a question that allows for more than one type of answer. Reading this interesting article by David Samuels, quoted by Alastair Crooke in this SCF, we can convey a political and practical answer: Wokism was a U.S. doctrine from Obama until January 2025. It was in force during Trump I, who did not tame the “Deep State”, and reached its peak under Biden. If we are to believe David Samuels, Obama’s strategist, a certain David Axelrod, a Jew who was an expert in electing black politicians using a marketing strategy originally created to sell unsold products. This strategy, called “permission structures”, meant that the focus was no longer on the product, but on the customer’s self-image. David Samuels does not go into much detail about how this works, and the term seems obscure even in advertising, since there is no Wikipedia article about it. However, I found this article, and I could see there the profile of the influencer: a random person on the internet who is sought out by followers and advertises products to them. The name of the strategy comes from the fact that, since consumers cannot pay attention to conventional advertising (all the commercials on TV, all the posters and newspaper ads), they need to ask for permission to sell something, creating a relationship of trust with the advertiser.

Obviously, no one needs influencers to decide to buy bread on the corner or blood pressure medicine. Influencers sell an identity, a sense of belonging to a niche. That is why the sale is more about the consumer’s identity than the usefulness or quality of the product. According to Daniels’ article, a small group of people would formulate slogans, which would then be posted on Twitter and Reddit, and, depending on how well they did, would be promoted on the big machine built by Obama and Axelrod. Suddenly, all the experts from NGOs were consulted even by the traditional media outlets and would defend the correct opinion of the day. Thus, this structure was used to interfere with the self-image of each citizen. It started with white voters voting for black people to make sure they weren’t racist, and culminated in lynch mobs wanting to punish the scoundrels who didn’t inject mRNA. Suddenly, everyone had to buy into a series of ideas and publicly support them to prove to everyone that they were good people. In fact, it was a machine that was as totalitarian as it was dumbing down.

It is also possible to give a philosophical and cultural answer to the question. That’s what I did here at SCF, in the article “After all, how did a Puritan nation end up idolizing transvestites?” There I attribute wokism to the religious background of the United States. As a historical landmark, there is the takeover of Harvard in the 19th century by Unitarians, who were promoters of theological liberalism. This is a movement so individualistic that it is practically solipsistic, since it takes sola scriptura to heart and does not accept any “external” authority, that is, any authority other than the person himself. For theological liberalism, each person must think for oneself: it is not enough to abolish the authority of the pastor; it is necessary to free ourselves from the “tyranny of opinion”, which is indistinguishable from the Inquisition. Thus, liberals politicized customs greatly and always defended the side rejected by common sense: they adopted feminism, anti-racism and, later, the defense of gays. Theological liberalism overcame denominational and even faith barriers: several Protestant churches adopted it, and synagogues too.

With the Monkey Trial, or Tennessee vs. Scopes (1925), Protestant churches were polarized between the liberals, willing to accept the theory of evolution, and the fundamentalists, who wanted to create a Science to their liking, compatible with their reading of the Bible.

In my opinion, the United States is heading towards changing Protestant currents. Fundamentalists, for example, are entirely pro-Israel, and for biblical reasons. The state was even founded to meet a Protestant religious demand, against the dominant opinion of the rabbis of the time (who considered it heretical to return to the Holy Land before the arrival of the Messiah, as we saw here).

The American state, in theory, is perfectly secular and free from any theological influences. That is why Unitarianism has been so successful: it is a church that does not see itself as a church (but rather as an association of individuals who happen to think alike), and its creed is 90% about political issues. Fundamentalists are at a disadvantage, but this can be recovered through an alliance with right-wing atheists: Science will henceforth attest that their culture is the best in the world, a move already taken, on a personal level, by the high priest of atheism Richard Dawkins. Now, Science has already decided that women have penises; deciding that the world was created in seven days would be a small thing. But the American oligarchs are atheists like Dawkins. What they can do in the future is imitate the Thiel + Vance combination, an atheist sponsor with a traditionalist religious politician. Science will not say that the world was created in seven days; instead, it will say – as it has been saying for some time – that economic liberalism is the key to the prosperity of countries, that the state is inefficient, that Ashkenazi Jews have a genius IQ, that the population of Gaza has a very low IQ, that illegal immigration benefits the economy, etc. All it takes is to increase research on the impact of healthy marriage on children, change the bias of research that compares children raised by heterosexual and gay couples, research the mental health of religious people, and voilà: you have a Dawkins-style defense of Christianity, palatable to a Thiel, a Bezos etc.

At his side, his elegant wife walked around without a veil and had two bachelor’s degrees from London. Now a butcher fundamentalist has entered the fray, who, one suspects, is not exactly a feminist. But he has the same opinion on alcohol as old school puritans.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

▫️In Kharkov direction, units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted losses on formations of one motorised infantry brigade and one air assault brigade of the AFU near Volchansk (Kharkov region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 50 troops, one armoured personnel carrier, three motor vehicles, and one field artillery gun.

▫️Units of the Zapad Group of Forces improved the tactical situation. Losses were inflicted on manpower and hardware of three mechanised brigades of the AFU, two territorial defence brigades, and one national guard brigade near Peschanoye, Zagryzovo, Zagoruykovka, Kutkovka, Putnikovo, and Kurilovka (Kharkov region).

The AFU losses amounted to more than 320 troops, two armoured fighting vehicles, 10 motor vehicles, eight field artillery guns, including three NATO-made guns. One ammunition depot was wiped out.

▫️Units of the Yug Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions. Losses were inflicted on formations of two mechanised brigades, one airmobile brigade of the AFU, and one territorial defence brigade near Seversk, Dronovka, Verkhnekamenskoye, and Chasov Yar (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 175 troops, two motor vehicles, and one field artillery gun. One ammunition depot was wiped out.

▫️Units of the Tsentr Group of Forces continued to engage in active offensive operations. Losses were inflicted on manpower and hardware of three mechanised brigades, one motorised infantry brigade, one airmobile brigade of the AFU, and one national guard brigade near Dzerzhinsk, Druzhba, Nelepovka, Novopavlovka, Shcherbinovka, and Andreyevka (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 550 troops, two armoured fighting vehicles, six motor vehicles, and two field artillery guns.

▫️Units of the Vostok Group of Forces continued advancing into the depth of the enemy's defences. Losses were inflicted on formations of two mechanised brigades of the AFU, one marine brigade, and one territorial defence brigade near Novoselka, Razliv, Volnoye Pole (Donetsk People's Republic), and Novodarovka (Zaporozhye region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 125 troops and three motor vehicles. Five field artillery guns, including one NATO-made gun, were destroyed.

▫️Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of one mechanised brigade of the AFU and one territorial defence brigade near Antonovka, Tokarevka (Kherson region), and Kamenskoye (Zaporozhye region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 55 troops and two motor vehicles.

▫️Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces struck Ukrainian defence industry objects, infrastructure of military airfields, UAV workshops and storages, as well as engaged the enemy's manpower and hardware in 142 areas.

▫️Air defence units shot down two French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs, four U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles, and 61 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

▫️In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 652 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 41,861 unmanned aerial vehicles, 590 anti-aircraft missile systems, 20,892 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,510 MLRS combat vehicles, 21,058 field artillery guns and mortars, and 30,904 units of support military vehicles have been neutralised.

❗️In the past six months, monthly medical and irrecoverable losses of the AFU manpower have been constantly reaching about 50,000 troops and more (January 2025 – 51,960 troops, December 2024 – 48,470 troops, November 2024 – 60,805 troops, etc.).

The number of recruits of the AFU training centres even considering the more active mobilisation efforts all over Ukraine by enlistment offices has rarely exceeded 30,000 people per month over the past six months. Without proper training, these recruits are sent to the line of contact, which results in decreasing the AFU total strength.

According to the official data, up to 100,000 Ukrainian troops have gone AWOL or fled.

Legislative changes prepared by the Kiev regime under pressure from Western countries to lower the mobilisation age from 25 to 18 are the only way for Zelensky to delay the cascading collapse of the front in Donbass for a few more months.

Two counter-attacks launched by the enemy's units were repelled.

▫️Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, and artillery inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the enemy near Viktorovka, Guyevo, Zazulevka, Kazachaya Loknya, Kolmakov, Kositsa, Kruglenkoye, Kurilovka, Lebedevka, Loknya, Malaya Loknya, Martynovka, Makhnovka, Melovoy, Nikolsky, Novaya Sorochina, Oleshnya, Sverdlikovo, Staraya Sorochina, Sudzha, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye as well as Basovka, Belovody, Vodolagi, Zhuravka, and Obody in Sumy region.

▫️Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses amounted to more than 240 troops, two infantry fighting vehicles, one armoured personnel carrier, four armoured fighting vehicles, 14 motor vehicles, four artillery guns, nine mortars, two electronic warfare stations, three UAV command posts, and two ammunition depots.

▫️Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the AFU losses amounted to more than 56,140 troops, 325 tanks, 241 infantry fighting vehicles, 185 armoured personnel carriers, 1,653 armoured fighting vehicles, 1,707 motor vehicles, 396 artillery guns, 44 MLRS launchers, including 13 of HIMARS and six of MLRS made by the USA, 16 anti-aircraft missile launchers, eight transport-loading vehicles, 105 EW stations, 14 counter-battery warfare radars, four air defence radars, 32 units of engineering and other materiel, including 13 counterobstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, nine armoured recovery vehicles, and one command post vehicle.

The operation to neutralise the AFU units is in progress.

POW Igor Parfentyev was taken by the enlistment office representatives during mobilisation and sent to serve in Zhytomyr region. Different people from the nearest regions of the country were brought to the training unit. Parfentyev was then sent to fight in the Donetsk People's Republic, where he saw the atrocities committed by his commanders, who engaged in looting and abused civilians.

'When we entered the first village in the Donetsk region, we had to find accommodations for military personnel. They gave us an order to remove the locals from their houses and accommodate military personnel there. Mortarmen were accommodated nearby. When they left, they stole everything from the house where they had lived. They borrowed money from a saleswoman to buy vodka. And never returned the money,' said the POW.

It is clear from Parfentyev's story that the AFU personnel acted uncontrollably, the officers tried to control them remotely.

'I reported over the radio that we were under an attack and we need assistance. They told us to hold position. They told us that we could have been attacked by friendly troops. They asked us to shout out 'Glory to Ukraine' to them. We got under heavy fire. After that, we began to withdraw. There wasn't any order to retreat. Our FPV drones began to hit us,' said Parfentyev.

▪️ Last night, several UAVs were shot down over Crimea. The head of Zaporizhia Region reported that he attacked Berdyansk with guided UAVs. At least three drones that were shot down while approaching the city were recorded. The fires that broke out as a result of the impact were extinguished [finally, at least one governor calmly calls things by their proper names]. From Bryansk Region, they report an attack by drones and a fire in the Novozybkov area. Preliminary, the target of the attack could have been the Druzhba oil pipeline distribution station, with footage of the fire spreading in the villages of Mamai and Zamishevo.

▪️ In Kursk Region, the "North" group of forces is engaged in fierce battles in Sverdlikovo and the surrounding forest belts. They report our advance in the north of Sudzha District. 🇦🇺Australian Mercenary Oscar Jenkins Offered for Exchange

Oscar Jenkins, an Australian mercenary who fought on the side of Ukraine and was captured, has been proposed for a prisoner exchange involving Russians Simeon Boikov and Kira and Igor Korolev.

Simeon Boikov

▪️ An Australian of Russian descent, activist, and journalist. In 2022, he was arrested in Sydney for ten months on allegations of "posing a threat to national security."

▪️ Upon his release in spring 2022, he learned that a relative had died in the Special Military Operation. He was unable to attend the funeral due to an incident at the airport involving pro-Ukrainian demonstrators.

▪️ The Australian authorities considered this a violation of his parole conditions and attempted to re-incarcerate him. Boikov was released on bail and sought refuge at the Russian Consulate General in Australia.

▪️ In September 2023, he was granted Russian citizenship by presidential decree. Boikov has been at the consulate for 780 days, isolated from his family and loved ones.

Kira and Igor Korolev

▪️ In July 2024, the couple was arrested in Australia on suspicion of espionage for Russia. They had lived in the country for over ten years and held Australian citizenship.

▪️ The prosecution has not provided evidence of their guilt. The couple is currently held in pre-trial detention.

Oscar Jenkins was arrested and faces charges of mercenarism. He was captured in December 2024.
