❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Highlights of Russian Military Operation in Ukraine on May 18.

▪️In Crimea, there was a sabotage on the railway near the village of Chistenkoe.

As a result of the explosion, several cars of a freight train derailed. Traffic on the Simferopol-Sevastopol line was suspended.

▪️The AFU continue strikes on the border settlements in Kursk Region.

In the village of Glushkovo, enemy UAVs attacked a sports and recreation center and a notary building. Two people were wounded.

▪️Regular shelling continues in the Belgorod region, where several border settlements have been targeted by the AFU.

In Nizhnee Berezovo two people were killed as a result of the shelling, and another person was taken to hospital in serious condition.

▪️In the Soledar direction, the enemy continues to launch counterattacks in separate sectors of the front.

In the vicinity of the village of Sakko i Vantsetti, Russian troops withdrew from their forward positions, taking up defensive positions in the settlement.

▪️In Bakhmut, Wagner PMC assault groups entered Jubilee Street north of the Domino fortified area

At the moment there are intense clashes with AFU near the children's hospital.

▪️The Ukrainian troops continue attacks in the Klishchiivka direction pushing Russian forces away from the southwestern suburbs of Bakhmut

In turn, Russian artillery struck another bridge on the Krasnoje-Konstantinovka highway.

▪️Ukrainian units continue shelling the territories of Donetsk agglomeration.

The central districts of Donetsk, Staromykhailivka and Yelenivka, came under fire again. Civilian infrastructure and residential buildings were damaged.

Approximate situation in Bakhmut by the end of the day 05/18/23.

The defense area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Domino" was taken by units of the PMC "Wagner". The enemy currently has only one defense area in the city - "Tetris" (the area more commonly referred to as "the airplane direction"), where the battles are now taking place. A cleansing of the private sector along Tchaikovsky Street is underway.

Evening musings.

History repeats itself.

After the suicide bombing by a terrorist at Kabul airport during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, US officials claimed to have killed a mastermind behind that terrorist attack via drone stroke.

Soon afterwards, it came to light that they had actually murdered a civilian aid worker.

Biden’s attempt to introduce “over the horizon” as a buzzword quickly faded after that.

A month ago Biden’s administration and media again reported that they had killed a senior leader of Al Qaeda.

Today reports from Washington Post, citing anonymous US Officials, claim that the man in question had been One Lofti Misto.

A former bricklayer, father of ten, who had been tending to his sheep in Syria when torn apart by a US drone launched missile, with no ties to any terrorist organization whatsoever.

This pattern amongst many things (disregard for human life) indicates a severe incompetence in US intelligence services and information gathering capabilities, which likely explains some of their decision making process in regards to the intervention in Ukraine.

Yes - it really is not calculated malice, they simply are that dumb.

Unfortunately, an idiot with a shotgun is a recipe for tragedy.

In other news, Politico reports that senior officials in Biden’s administration are now mulling over the notion of “freezing” the Ukraine intervention into an armistice such as that in Korea.

Given that Russia now knows the previous 8 years of attempted ceasefire via negotiation with the west was a ruse, I do not comprehend how they expect Russia to take any such proposition seriously.

Such an armistice would only provide the West time to re-arm and ramp up military production to later re-ignite the conflict.

Russia is increasingly in a position of strength for negotiation. NATO stockpiles are running dry, equipment such as Patriot has been shown incapable of countering Russian salvos, HIMARS and Stormshadow missiles have been routinely intercepted.

And on that note, on a speech at “Strategic Ark”, Zelensky made this commentary:

“…The Russian-Polish war began, the consequences of which we all remember.

Today it is the same enemy. The same goal…

Russia does not need peace, but time for new missiles, a new plan, a new attack. This is the formula of Russian politics, unchanged for centuries. XXI should be her last. Mechanisms for implementing this are contained in the Ukrainian peace formula…”

As always, projection of self, and once again a thinly veiled comment indicating that the end goal is not only the annihilation of Russia as a civilization, but that of Russian people as well.
