🇷🇸🇽🇰 What is happening in Kosovo and Metohija? The situation as the end of July 31, 2022 by @rybar:
The howling of air sirens in Kosovska Mitrovica at 6:30 p.m. Moscow time marked the beginning of another escalation of the long-standing conflict.
▪️ From August 1, the self-proclaimed republic of Kosovo was to begin new rules for the entry of Serbs. All cars had to be re-registered with Kosovo license plates, and a special "declaration sheet" had to be obtained instead of Serbian technical passports. Identity cards issued by the Serbian Interior Ministry were now considered invalid.
These requirements apply to ethnic Serbs living in the province, as well as to their relatives from central Serbia. Such measures will make life considerably more difficult for the Serbian population of the province and are, in fact, a violation of the Brussels agreements.
Moreover, this is direct pressure on the Serbian population. Peaceful citizens are bureaucratically forced to give up the truth "Kosovo is Serbia" and recognize that Kosovo is another state. Such measures cause nothing but irritation and desire to close the problem of the self-proclaimed republic once and for all.
▪️ Serbian authorities have been warning since June about provocations being prepared in the province.
According to President Aleksandar Vucic, Western conductors of the Kosovo Albanians were actually preparing a cleansing operation against the Serbian population by the fall. However, the Kosovo authorities decided not to wait for either the fall or the official date for the new rules to take effect.
On July 31, the Brnjak and Jarinje border crossings were unilaterally closed, and the passage of vehicles with Serbian plates through the Rudnica crossing was suspended. For his part, Prime Minister of self-proclaimed Kosovo Albin Kurti blamed Serbian authorities for the escalation.
▪️ Fakes about hospitalized Kosovo police officers injured in clashes with the Serbian army multiplied on the Web. However, both the Serbian Ministry of Defense and the Kosovo Police denied the clashes. Nevertheless, shooting was recorded at the Brnjak and Jarinje border crossings, and one Serb was hospitalized in Kosovska Mitrovica.
NATO's KFOR and Serbian Armed Forces units were put on high alert, while Kosovo's ROSU special forces were redeployed to the border areas in the north. In the evening, Serbia's General Staff held talks with KFOR, and the American ambassador to Kosovo said he had persuaded the Pristina authorities to delay applying the scandalous decision about the license plates until September 1.
This is not the first time we see the pulling of Kosovo forces, as well as putting the Serbian army on alert and moving its units to the south: last fall at the same checkpoint "Jarinje" the confrontation almost became an armed conflict.
However, one should not underestimate the general background of the international situation today, as well as the support provided to the Kosovo Albanians by Britain and Germany in recent months.
Now we are faced with the usual provocation and probing reaction of both Serbs and the international community. Despite Aleksandar Vucic's calls for peace, the intervention of peacekeepers and Western partners, there is every reason to believe that an armed clash in northern Kosovo and Metohija is only a matter of time. And September 1 and the entry into force of the humiliating for all Serbs rules of travel in Kosovo is just a matter of time.

⚡️ Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine
▫️The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine.
💥High-precision strike has destroyed 2 US rocket launchers of HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system on the territory of the Ukrainian Energy Machines plant in Kharkov. 53 Ukrainian nationalists and foreign mercenaries have been also eliminated.
💥High-precision weapons of the Russian Aerospace Forces have struck a temporary deployment point of 92nd Mechanized Brigade of AFU near Kharkov city . The attacks have resulted in the elimination of up to 200 nationalists and 7 units of military equipment.
▫️Due to heavy losses in 93rd Mechanized Brigade of AFU in Kharkov direction and 128th Mountain Assault Brigade in Zaporozhye direction, there is mass abandonment of combat positions and desertion of personnel of these formations to the central and western parts of Ukraine.
💥Operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery strikes continue against military facilities in Ukraine.
▫️2 ammunition depots near Seversk and Kaleniki, Donetsk People's Republic, 1 fuel supply centre for AFU military equipment near Nikopol, Dnepropetrovsk Region, as well as 239 areas of enemy manpower and military equipment concentration have been destroyed.
▫️In addition, 1 launcher of American anti-ship Garpoon missile system has been destroyed near Velikyi Dalnik, Odessa Region.
💥In the course of counter-battery warfare 1 artillery battery of AFU has been destroyed near Umanskoye, Donetsk People's Republic.
▫️8 Ukrainian Grad MLRS platoons and 6 artillery and mortar platoons at firing positions near Sukhaya Balka, Petrovskoye, Vodyanoye, Tonenkoye, Kurdyumovka and Dzerzhinsk, Donetsk People's Republic have been suppressed.
Russian air defence means have shot down 10 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Makeyevka and Petropavlovka, Donetsk People's Republic, Lyubimovka, Zaporizhzhya Region, as well as Chervonyi Yar, Krasnoye, Andreevka, Zavody, Vernopol'e and Iziyum, Kharkiv Region.
📊In total, 261 Ukrainian airplanes and 145 helicopters, 1,659 unmanned aerial vehicles, 361 anti-aircraft missile systems, 4,215 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 778 multiple launch rocket systems, 3,234 field artillery and mortars, as well as 4,621 units of special military vehicles were destroyed during the operation.

🔻 In the Donetsk area:
The Ukrainian command is trying to hold back the advance of Allied forces in the Avdeevsk direction.
▪️ During positional fighting, units of the Russian Armed Forces and the DPR Peoples´ Militia advanced to the southern outskirts of Avdeevka and reached the southeastern area of the Peski settlement.
▪️ Ukrainian artillery calculations to slow the advance of allied forces are firing barrage at areas south of Avdeevka, Panteleimonovka, Novoselovka II, Egorovka, and the outskirts of Donetsk, Gorlovka and Yasinovataya using Lepestok PFM-1 anti-personnel mines.
▪️ Artillery crews of the Russian Armed Forces and the DPR military responded with artillery fire against AFU positions in Avdeevka, Krasnogorovka, Marinka, Novoselidivka, Peski, Veseloye, Novoselovka, Novokalinovo, Novomikhailovka, Pavlovka, Shevchenko, Novopol, Malinovka and Ugledar.
▪️ Several strikes on the positions of the 66th AFU brigade on the line of contact resulted in losses of over 50 people killed and wounded.
🔻 In the Zaporizhzhia area:
The situation in Zaporizhzhia region remained unchanged. The AFU is searching for the weakest points in the Russian Armed Forces' defenses.
▪️ Units of the 44th Independent Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using RQ-20 Puma UAVs to uncover Russian Armed Forces positions and target artillery at the Zherebyanka-Orekhov and Voskresenka-Gulyaypole lines.
▪️ A sabotage and reconnaissance group of the AFU was sent to the vicinity of Lugovskoye. It was discovered by Russian servicemen. During the fighting, the DRG suffered losses and retreated to its original lines.
▪️ The Russian Armed Forces' barrel artillery and MLRS fire squads struck AFU concentrations in Charivne, Gulyaypole, Shcherbaki, Malye Shcherbaki, Novoandreyevka, Orekhove, and Kamenskoye.
