❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Donbass offensive: situation in Eastern Ukraine as the end of August 2, 2022 by @rybar:
▪️ The Russian Armed Forces struck positions of Ukrainian forces near the village of Mikhailchina Sloboda in the Chernihiv region.
▪️ There were no significant changes on the front line in Kharkov region.
➖During the night, Russian forces hit AFU facilities in Kharkov, Chuguev, and the Bogodukhov district.
➖Russian forces hit Ukrainian positions in Stary Saltiv.
▪️ Allied forces are engaged in offensive battles in the Bakhmut (Artemivskoye) direction.
The Russian Armed Forces managed to gain a foothold on the eastern outskirts of Soledar, providing a bridgehead for a further offensive deep into the city. Fighting is underway in Bakhmutskoye.
Fighting north of Soledar, in the vicinity of Yakovlevka. Fighting for Ivano-Daryevka has resumed.
➖Allied Forces repulsed a major counterattack by the AFU at Pokrovske, the enemy suffered heavy losses and withdrew to their initial positions towards Bakhmut.
➖South of Bakhmut (Artemovsk) there are battles on a broad front from the outskirts of Dolomitnoye to Vesela Dolyna.
➖ Russian forces, after fierce fighting, have taken Semigorie.
➖ There is information about the occupation of Travneve by DPR forces.
▪️ Fighting is going on in the suburbs of Donetsk, which are under control of the AFU.
➖During positional battles, the DPR, supported by artillery of the Russian Armed Forces, managed to occupy the vicinity of the dam in Peski. Approximately half of the village is under the control of the allied forces.
➖21 battalion of the 56th infantry battalion of the AFU came under "friendly" fire, retreating in the direction of Vodyane.
➖Ukrainian artillery struck towns in Donetsk agglomeration, including with cluster munitions with petal mines.
➖Allied forces responded with concentrated artillery strikes on AFU strongholds east and south of Avdeevka, in Piski, Krasnogorovka, and Marinka.
➖Overnight, Ukrainian formations launched a missile strike against Stakhanov in the LPR.
▪️ There are no significant changes on the front line in the Zaporizhzhya direction. The RF Armed Forces hit enemy positions in Zaliznichne, Malaya Tokmachka, Kamenskoye and Novoandreyevka.
▪️ On the Krivoy Rog direction, the sides are preparing to conduct artillery duels on the line of contact.

❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 The situation in the Soledar direction

In the Soledar direction, the efforts of the allied forces are concentrated on pushing through the defensive lines near Soledar and Bakhmut (Artyomovsk).
▪️In Soledar, fighting is going on along the Bakhmut-Lysichansk highway. Russian units came close to the southeastern outskirts of the settlement: clashes unfolded on the territory of the Knauf Gips plant and the Extra railway station. 1 km southwest, the cleansing of Bakhmutsky continues.
▪️The attackers from the side of the Pokrovsky unit are grinding the enemy defenses in Bakhmut, suppressing firing points in the city.
▪️The capture of Semigorye made it possible to establish control over Travnev and come close to Kodem. The assault on the fortified areas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues throughout the Travnevoe-Kodema-Vershina section.

Peski is almost under DNR control: The story of how the Ukrainian armed forces lost their artillery.
This week's main topic from the front is the Allied Forces breaking through the Ukrainian defences in Pesky. The DNR People's Militia already controls most of the settlement.
Establishing control over Peski with subsequent advancement towards the villages of Pervomayske and Vodyanoye will make it possible to block the M-04 highway. This highway is a strategic supply artery for the Avdeevka fortification. Control over it means encircling Avdeevka.
The fortifications have been in place for eight years. It was a singular bastion for the Ukrainian armed forces. But now there is no heavy artillery in Peski, and the Ukrainians cannot respond to strikes.
There are two reasons for the absence of heavy calibres:
First, most of the large-calibre heavy artillery was removed from the area near Peski at the beginning of last week. The equipment was needed in the south to reinforce the "counterattack" on Kherson, which was pompously announced by Kiev.
Second, the channel through which the Ukrainian armed forces had previously moved people and equipment (including artillery) to Peski from Avdeevka has been cut by Allied strikes. It is no longer possible to feed the Peski garrison.
As a result, the Ukrainian army's stockpiles of heavy weapons (D-20/D-30 howitzers) now number on the order of just a few units. The Ukrainians are economising on the artillery shells. They mainly use 120 mm mortars with a range of up to 6-7 km. These cause no damage to the Allied Forces. Our artillery operates at a range of 20-25 km, and mortars cannot reach it.
Separately, it should be noted that artillery units of the 1st DNR corps have occupied dominating heights 750 metres to the south of the Krasnoarmeyskoye highway, as well as on the Oktyabrskaya mine heap. These positions allow direct fire on AFU strongholds.
