M777 position got hit by counter battery fire and went up in smoke. I noticed in pretty much most of the footage that is coming out is that the Ukrainians are using these guns singly rather than batteries. They want to preserve what few guns they have as much as possible.

❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Situation in the Soledar direction as of 5 p.m. on July 17, 2022 by @rybar:

Allied forces are fighting on the western outskirts of Soledar, fighting for access to Seversk continues.

The Ukrainian command is strengthening its defense lines at Artemivsk (Bakhmut).

🔻The Seversk area:

▪️ In the area of Ivano-Daryevka, fighting for control of the settlement continues. The Ukrainian command in order to maintain the combat readiness of the units carried out the rotation of 1 Rifle battalion of the tero-defense.

▪️ In the vicinity of Seversk, units of the 10th Ogsh Brigade are installing mine barriers on the approaches to the settlement.

▪️ In order to slow down the advance of the Russian Armed Forces, artillery crews of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are conducting barrage fire in the areas of Zolotorevka, Verkhnekamenskoye and Verkhnekamenskoye.

▪️ Due to a possible breach of the defense line, the command post of the Severskaya group of troops was moved to Zvanovka.

🔻The Soledar sector:

▪️ During the day, active fighting took place in the area of Belogorovka and Berestovoye, where units of the 1st and 2nd battalions of the 14th Branches are trying to hold the defense.

▪️ The AFU command dispatched a combined rifle battalion to reinforce the positions of the 14th Brigade on the line of contact. Ammunition was delivered to Pokrovskoye and Soledar from Pokrovsk.

▪️ The Ukrainian Armed Forces conduct counter-battery warfare to deter Allied offensive forces, using American-made radars from the Bakhmutsky and Yakovlevka districts.

▪️ AFU artillery crews fired at the vicinity of Nikolaevka, Berestovoye, and Stakhanov from HIMARS MLRSs.

🔻 In the Bakhmut area:

▪️ Ukrainian units expect an active Russian Armed Forces offensive on Vershina, Semigorie, Novoluganskoye and Uglegorsk TPP.

▪️ In Artemivsk (Bakhmut), intensive equipment of strongholds and observation points is underway. In addition, bridges and industrial facilities are being mined in order to blow them up in case the city is lost.

▪️ The Russian army has hit AFU positions in Konstantinovka, Bakhmut, Soledar, Zhelezny, Serebryanka, Vershiny and Novoluganskoye.
