On October 17, 2022, the Russian Forces again conducted massive strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
🔎 Rybar's team analysed data from open sources, reports from eyewitnesses on the ground, as well as information from closed sources. In a number of cases, the effects of the shelling are not so clear and objective monitoring data is lacking.
🔻 List of Confirmed Casualties:
▪️ Severo-Ukrainskaya 750kV substation - 750/330kV power autotransformer and the building of the OPU were affected. Outages at the substation led to blackouts in #Kharkov as well. Light later returned when the emergency circuit was triggered.

▪️ Dneprovskaya 750kV substation - the 750/330kV autotransformer is presumably affected. Serious power outages in #Dnipropetrovsk and #Kharkov.

▪️ Ukrenergo's Main Information and Computing Centre - Despite this morning's strikes, one Heran-2 kamikaze UAV was not enough. We wrote (http://t.me/sitreports/153) that in case of a qualitative firing it would be possible to disrupt the whole system of selection of optimal parameters of electric modes, power generation capacity of power plants and network switching schemes. But in fact, the control room panel was intact, as was the backup system.

🔻 Probable Targets affected:
▪️ Rovno 330kV substation - the impact caused an emergency power outage in the city centre. Rivne has an important substation and high-voltage line coming from the Rivne NPP.

▪️ Khmelnytsky 330 kV substation - there was an emergency power outage in part of the Xmelnitskaya region after the Geran strikes.

▪️ The Vinnitskaya 750 kV substation is a probable target of a firing. There was a claim that some "critical infrastructure facility" was hit by three missiles. This object could equally have been the Ladyzhynska TPP, which was already hit last week. But since there are no casualties and no evidence from the ground, we are inclined to believe it is the Vinnitskaya power station.

🔻 Based on the information available, we can say with certainty that the targeting of energy infrastructure continues. And this time they are 750kV substations. Yes, the damage is not as widespread as it could be.
The most important result is the deterioration of the entire Ukrainian energy system in the run-up to the cold weather. Yes, the removal of the power system could be forced: missiles and UAVs are now being pinpointed. Extremely many facilities are still intact and unharmed.
But the point-by-point firing continues. And that is the main thing.

#PosadPokrovskoye Sector:
▪️ Mutual shelling of the sides continues. The mortar battery of the 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade is shelling Ternovy Pody from #Lubomirovka, and the mortar battery of the 3rd Battalion of the 28th Mechanized Brigade from #Luparevo is shelling #Alexandrovka.
▪️ The school building in #Luparevo houses the 3rd Battalion's command and observation post, and the site is equipped with a drone launch site.
#Andreevka Sector:
▪️ The Ukrainian command is conducting reconnaissance of the Russian Forces' positions on the frontline of the #Kostromka - #Bruskinskoye defense line. Ukrainian artillery is shelling Russian positions from #Murakhovka.
▪️ Over the past 24 hours, 74 pieces of equipment were moved to the left bank of the #Ingulets River via the established crossings, while 86 pieces of equipment has been moved to repair and reconstruction.
#Berislav Area:
▪️ The AFU are preparing fot another offensive attempt in the next 24 hours. A brigade artillery group of the 60th Separate Infantry Brigade is firing disruptive fire at the #Polyanka - #Sukhanovo - #Pyatikhatki line.
▪️ A platoon of the 97th battalion of the 60th Separate Infantry Brigade has arrived in Novaya Kamenka and the 96th Battalion of the compound is expected to arrive in the morning hours.
▪️ Composite assault groups of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade are set on full readiness for an offensive near #Sukhanovo and #Polyanka.
▪️ The command of the 17th Tank Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade has moved more than a dozen tanks and armoured fighting vehicles from #Ukrainka to the vicinity of #Novogrigorovka and Novaya Kamenka.
▪️ A mortar company is deployed on the southern outskirts of Novaya Kamenka. Targeting and reconnaissance of the Russian positions is provided by the Bayraktar UAV from the vicinity of #Chervonoye.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.
◽️ Russian forces continued launching attacks by high-precision long-range air- and sea-based armament at the military control and energy systems of Ukraine, as well as at the depots of foreign-manufactured ordnance and armament.
◽️ All the assigned targets have been neutralised.
💥 Units of Russian army seized Gorobyovka (Kharkov region) and caused considerable casualties among the units from 1st Operational Brigade of Ukrainian National Guard at Kupyansk direction.
◽️ Moreover, Russian forces have frustrated the attempt of a company tactical group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) reinforced by tanks to launch an attack near Kislovka (Kharkov region).
💥 Fire attack launched at the departing assault groups from 71st Chaser, 80th Airborne Assault and 25th Airborne brigades of the AFU near Stelmakhovka and Rozovka (Lugansk People's Republic), Karpovka and Ivanovka (Donetsk People's Republic) has resulted in the frustration of enemy's attempts to cross Zherebets river.
◽️ 46 Ukrainian personnel, 2 armoured personnel carriers, 6 armoured combat vehicles and 2 pickups with large-calibre machine guns have been eliminated.
💥 AFU units made attempts to break the defence of Russian troops towards Bruskinskoye (Kherson region) at Nikolayev-Krivoy Rog direction.
◽️ Enemy's attack has been repelled. Russian artillery fire attack has resulted in scattering and driving the AFU units back to their initial positions.
◽️ Over 90 Ukrainian personnel, 1 tank, 8 armoured combat vehicles and 21 motor vehicles have been eliminated at the abovementioned direction.
💥 Operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery have neutralised a command post of Dnepr joint group of forces of the AFU and a workshop for radar reparation at an entity of Iskra research and production association, as well as 56 artillery units at their firing positions, 132 manpower and military equipment concentration areas.
💥 Within the counterbattery warfare, 2 AFU artillery batteries have been neutralised near Trifonovka and Novonikolayevka (Kherson region), as well as 1 U.S.-manufactured HIMARS MLRS platoon near Drobyshevo (Donetsk People's Republic).
Moreover, 3 munitions depots have been destroyed near Novoivanovka (Nikolayev region), Odnorobovka (Kharkov region) and Krasny Liman (Donetsk People's Republic).
3 AN/TPQ-37 and AN/TPQ-50 counterbattery radars have been destroyed near Artyomovsk, Viyemka and Soledar (Donetsk People's Republic).
◽️ 1 outer space signal station of the Government Communications Centre of Ukraine has been destroyed near Paliyevka (Odessa region).
◽️ 1 launching ramp of S-300 Ukrainian air defence system has been destroyed near Petropavlovka (Donetsk People's Republic).
💥 Air defence facilities have shot down 10 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Kirovo, Sukhanovo, Kucherskoye, Dmitrenko (Kherson region), Yevgenovka (Nikolayev region), Zelyony Gai, Vladimirovka (Donetsk People's Republic), Krasnosyolovka, Ternovoye and Energodar (Zaporozhye region).

🔎 @Rybar's team continues its daily analysis of the consequences of systemic fire strikes on Ukraine's energy system.
🔻 Confirmed strikes:
▪️ Pridneprovskaya TPP - generation in #Dnipropetrovsk has been significantly reduced: the city of one million is left with only the crumbs that can be transmitted via the 330kV overhead line through the still undamaged substations. A wave of blackouts has hit the city.
The damage is limited. In the near future, the power plant will continue to operate - albeit with reduced generation capacity.
▪️ #Kiev TPP-6 - the power transformer of the generator-transformer unit is probably damaged.
Given that there are only two of them at CHPP-6, the damage caused to the central station is much more serious than in Dnipropetrovsk.
Presumably, the 330/110 kV autotransformer was also destroyed.
▪️ #Zhytomyr 330 kV substation - the 330/110 kV autotransformer was hit. The ability to transmit power to end users from the NPP through the 330kV network was reduced.
A safety mechanism has tripped, as a result of which the entire city of #Zhytomyr lost power. It is likely that tomorrow the substation will be restored and the load will be transferred to the remaining autotransformers, but it is unlikely that fan outages and restrictions will be avoided.
🔻 Probable strikes:
Krivoy Rog and Ivano-Frankovsk were also hit today, but there is no reliable information on the targets of the fire.
🔻 Summing up 9 days of fire strikes we come to the conclusion that the resilience of Ukraine's energy system is falling, with even single strikes on generation and distribution facilities shutting down entire regions.
The east of the country is constantly suffering from power outages even without direct impact on the power facilities located there.
The cumulative effect of the strikes is increasing, and if they continue, Ukraine's unified energy system will cease to exist.

The Russian Armed Forces have again struck facilities of Ukrainian energy infrastructure. During the day, targets were hit in #Zhytomyr, #Dnipropetrovsk and #Kiev regions.
#RussianFederation Territories:
▪️ Ukrainian militants shelled the villages of #Tetkino, Popovo-Lezhachi, #Guevo and #Goncharovka in #Kursk region, Mokraya Orlovka and #Glotovo in #Belgorod region, and Belaya Berezka in #Bryansk region.
Russian air defence intercepted targets near #Belgorod.
#Starobelsk Direction (MAP (http://t.me/sitrepmaps/25)):
▪️ Units of the 14th AFU Mechanized Brigade attempted an attack on positions of Russian Forces on the #Kislovka - #Kotlyarovka line. The attack again ended unsuccessfully.
▪️ During a counterattack near #Dvurechnoye, Russian troops drove units of the 1st Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard out of #Gorobyevka.
▪️ Russian artillery preemptively struck enemy concentrations near the villages of #Stelmakhovka, #Rozovka, #Karpovka, #Ivanovka and disrupted AFU preparations to cross the #Zherebets River at this site.
#Soledar Direction:
▪️ There are no significant changes on the frontline, the Wagner PMC troops are fighting fiercely on the outskirts of #Bakhmut and #Soledar.
#Lugansk Region:
▪️ Ukrainian militants shelled the village of #Novoivanovka with HIMARS MLRS. Several residents were wounded.
#Donetsk Direction:
▪️ Ukrainian militants shelled #Donetsk, #Makeevka, #Panteleymonovka, #Kashtanovoye, #Alexandrovka and other settlements in the agglomeration.
#Zaporozhye Direction:
▪️ There are no significant changes on the front line. Mutual artillery fire along the line of contact.
#Nikolaev - #Berislav Direction on Southern Front (MAP (http://t.me/sitrepmaps/24)):
▪️ There are artillery duels in the Posad-Pokrovskoye section near Ternovy Pody. Ukrainian formations are trying not to weaken the onslaught and are looking for weak points in the Russian defence.
▪️ In the #Berislav area, the AFU command has gathered additional forces in preparation for another offensive. Ukrainian artillery is shelling the Russian positions at the #Polyanka - #Sukhanovo - #Pyatikhatki line.
▪️ In anticipation of a large-scale offensive by the AFU in the entire direction, the authorities announced the evacuation of the #Kherson residents to the left bank of the #Dnipro River.
