🇷🇺🇺🇦 On the Ukrainian armed forces' strike on the Wagner PMC headquarters in #Popasna by @rybar:
Around noon on August 14, Ukrainian channels and chat rooms started to break the news about the defeat of the headquarters of the Wagner PMCs in Popasna by a #HIMARS MLRS strike. The first confirmations came just a couple of hours later.
▪️ The strike was carried out on the night of 13-14 August on the headquarters of the PMC, which is located on the basement floor of a residential building on 12 Mironovskaya Street on the south-western outskirts of Popasna. The consumption of ammunition by the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to seven rockets. Only one of them reached its target, but it was enough to hit it effectively. According to the photo, the second shell hit a flat on the ground floor of a semi-abandoned residential building.
▪️ Debris removal is still ongoing: there was a makeshift bomb shelter in the basement. But judging by the footage of the hit, it hit an unprotected part - a brick wall without bunding can be seen.
▪️ There are casualties. But there could have been many times more.
▪️ Alas, the location of the headquarters was easy to find out: Sergei Sreda, a military correspondent for the Federal News Agency, published a photograph of himself right in front of the entrance with a sign showing the number of the building on his channel as early as August 8. To assume that the enemy does not know OSINT, and to think that the photo cannot be used to determine the location, is naive.
▪️ The trigger for the strike was the news of August 12 that the owner of the Wagner PMC, oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin, had arrived in Donbass. In addition, Sreda's photos show a man who looks like the oligarch. This is at least the third known attempt since the start of the SWO to hit the PMC command post, where Prigozhin could be.
▪️ The appearance of video from the scene, taken by a pro-Ukrainian eyewitness, indicates that the strike was planned, and the spies on the ground were waiting for enough people to gather at the CP.
The net result is a sad result of human stupidity and a basic lack of respect for safety in the war zone.

Fights go on all line of Donbass. In many areas, our divisions have real success.
In the Ugledar direction, the Mining Division, together with the OBTF (a separate battalion-tactical formation), managed to advance towards the city itself, knocking out the enemy from their positions. For a long time, the front stood still in this direction. There were only art duels.
In the Donetsk direction, there is movement in several directions at once.
On the western outskirts of Donetsk, assault operations are underway in the city of Marinka, which is closely adjacent to the capital of the republic. It was from there that all these years fire was fired on the peaceful streets of Donetsk. As a result of the clear actions of the NM of the DPR of the 61st OPBR, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost up to 60% of the personnel killed and wounded, the rest are demoralized. The commander of one of the battalions with the call sign Mongol was destroyed.
In busy on the eve of n. Sands is being cleaned up and a bridgehead is being prepared for a further offensive towards Vodyanoye and Karlovka. When the village of Vodyanoye is taken, the Nazis in Avdiivka will find themselves in a semicircle.
For the complete encirclement of the Kyiv group from Gorlovka, assault operations are underway in the n. New York and Zaitsevo (the part that still remains for the Nazis - the village has been divided into two parts for all the years).
With successful actions in this direction, Avdiivka will fall into the operational environment.
In the Slavic direction, there are battles for Artyomovsk and Soledar.
In Soledar, the fighters of the NM of the LPR established control over the territory of the Knauf-Gypsum plant and entrenched themselves in the eastern part of the city. There is a development of the offensive deep into the city.
PMC Wagner drove the Nazis out of the village of Vershiny south of Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) and went to the village of Zaitsevo, where a large fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is located.
Zelensky, realizing that they could lose combat-ready units in the Donbass, ordered Zaluzhny to withdraw combat units from the first line of defense, replacing them with those mobilized from all over Ukraine. Plus, almost the entire officer corps was withdrawn from the combat zone.
Unprepared yesterday's civilians are thrown, not sparing, for slaughter. At the same time, most of these people are crushed by their own artillery, which works from afar and covers these territories with squares to slow down the advance of the allied forces.

France supplies banned mines to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian military mined the approaches to their positions in the area of the settlement. Experimental (northwest of Donetsk) with fifty French mines HPD mod.F2.
This is a very dangerous anti-tank mine with a magnetic target sensor. Designed to destroy armored vehicles with a cumulative jet when the vehicle passes over a mine. It is installed in the ground, on the ground and in water to a depth of 1.5 m.
This mine is dangerous because it is triggered by the movement of any metal objects near it. It also explodes when an electromagnetic metal detector approaches it.

▪️The Russian armed forces continue to suppress the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the border areas of the Sumy region. A checkpoint of Ukrainian formations was discovered and destroyed near the village of Yunakovka.
▪️In the north of the Kharkiv region, battles of medium intensity are taking place:
➖In the past days, units of the RF Armed Forces managed to take the settlements of Udy and Odnorobovka.
➖Russian missile troops and artillery attacked the facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Merefa and Chuguev, as well as Kovyagi.
▪️Fighting continues on the outskirts of Bakhmut (Artemovsk) in the Soledar direction:
➖ After capturing the village of Vershina, the Wagner PMC detachments reached the Ukrainian fortified area in Zaitsevo, south of Bakhmut. Its assault will allow launching an attack on the city simultaneously from two directions.
➖Ukrainian formations blew up a bridge across the Bakhmutka River in the northern part of Bakhmut in order to prevent its use by allied forces in the future.
▪️In the Donetsk direction, fighting is underway on the outskirts of the capital of the DPR:
➖Clashes continue near the fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the junction of the ring road near the recently liberated village of Peski. Its capture will allow to continue the offensive on Pervomaiskoye and Netaylovo.
➖ The Armed Forces of Ukraine once again shelled the cities of the Donetsk agglomeration, killing several civilians.
➖Under Ugledar, units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the NM of the DPR launched attacks on the strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the area of the village of Pavlovka, a Ka-52 helicopter of the Russian Aerospace Forces was shot down, the crew survived and was evacuated to the rear.
▪️In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the Russian Armed Forces hit two traction substations in Apostolovo and Sinelnikovo with missile strikes.
▪️Ukrainian formations once again fired at Energodar and the territory of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, missiles fell in the area of power unit No. 6. The strikes were carried out using Western-made weapons.
▪️In the Krivoy Rog direction, the RF Armed Forces again hit the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Osokorovka near the line of contact.

Boris Rozhin: How to fight the Hymars
In an interview with Segodnya.ru, a military expert noted a set of measures to counter enemy rocket artillery and outlined the features of the transition of the special operation in Ukraine from the summer to the autumn-winter phase.
- The Ukrainian side continues to use Haymars, sometimes successfully. Is there a universal "cure" for this type of MLRS? What is the set of measures that should be taken to completely eliminate this threat?
- At the moment, our air defense systems partially shoot down missiles of this complex, but during mass launches they periodically break through our defenses and cause some damage.
How to deal with it? More carefully disguise our headquarters and logistics infrastructure, deal with the dispersal of warehouses. To reduce the effectiveness of strikes against warehouses, it is necessary to improve the operation of air defense systems against missiles of these complexes, plus to hunt for them and methodically destroy them.
There is no recipe for a quick victory here - long and painstaking work is needed to minimize the effectiveness of this weapon system and improve work to counter them and their subsequent destruction.
- In my personal opinion, specialists in anti-terror and special operations are urgently needed in the NVO zone. The experience of the same Igor Girkin could be useful. In this regard, was it worth it to detain him at the entrance to the Kherson region, and what caused such a decision and its publicity in the media?
- From my point of view, any person who willingly wants to go to fight the Nazis in Ukraine should get such an opportunity, because now there is no more important task for the country than the destruction of the Nazi regime in Ukraine and its sponsors.
I don’t know all the reasons for this story, but I repeat, if a person wants to go to war, he should be provided with such an opportunity. This is especially important in conditions when the emphasis is on the contract-volunteer format of warfare, and not on the mobilization one.
— Western sources write that Russia has ordered at least 1,000 UAVs from Iran. How realistic are these numbers, and how could the supply of Iranian drones affect the course of hostilities?
- Officially, this information has not yet been confirmed. Regarding 1000 UAVs, obviously, they mean their production for some time. Obviously, here we are not talking about a one-time purchase of 1000 cars, especially since in the Russian Federation there simply aren’t so many operators for new cars.
Therefore, if the UAVs are really bought, then they will be delivered in parts, as they are produced and the calculations are trained. Taking into account the well-known quality of Iranian drones, they will become a serious help for our gunners, supplementing, for example, well-performing drones of the Orlan-10 type and other, rarer specimens.
- In a few weeks, the transition of hostilities from the spring-summer to the autumn-winter period will begin. How will the seasonal factor affect the confrontation in specific sectors of the front?
- In mid-autumn, offensive operations will be limited by worsening weather and autumn thaws. On the other hand, the descent of the "green" will make it difficult for both sides to hide from artillery, which is somewhat more beneficial for us, since we have an advantage in artillery, and it will become more difficult for the enemy to hold positions outside the cities. However, this will create many difficulties for us.
It can be expected that in October-November the intensity of hostilities in some directions will decrease and tendencies towards positioning will prevail, although, for example, this is unlikely to interfere with the assault on large settlements, as the example of the assault on the same Mariupol or Volnovakha showed.
