🇷🇺📰🇺🇸 - US press review by @rybar🔻
In the U.S. press, articles are increasingly popping up that hint opaquely at the not-so-easy price of an economic war with Russia.
🔸The Republican-controlled Fox News continues to pressure (https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/tucker-carlson-most-dishonest-people-yelling-loudest-war-russia) Democrats to stop pouring huge budgets into the conflict in Ukraine and deal with domestic economic problems. "Real average hourly wages fell 3.6 percent seasonally adjusted from June 2021 to June 2022. Americans are making less money just as everything they buy, from gasoline to groceries, is getting more expensive, and not just a little more expensive, but much more expensive."
◽️Tucker Carlson, one of the most popular political commentators in the United States, said that in America "the most dishonest people are the loudest shouting about war with Russia," adding that Joe Biden is busy funding "the corrupt and authoritarian government of Ukraine" instead of solving Americans' problems.
🔸Such pessimistic sentiments are echoed (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/07/15/eu-russia-sanctions-ukraine/) even by the pro-democracy The Washington Post, which reported with disappointment on July 15 that Europe was unable to fully agree on another package of sanctions against Russia. The journalists point out that the adopted restrictions on Russian gold imports are only half-measures at a time when Russia continues to receive billions of dollars from energy sales.
The Washington Post writes: "The EU faces low growth and record inflation. The euro is almost equal to the dollar. Appetite for additional disruption is low. Although EU officials insist that the bloc remains united on Ukraine, EU leaders seem less inclined to act in concert and are increasingly focused on domestic issues."
◽️Limited to the U.S. military, political, and economic analysis community, The Hill warns (https://thehill.com/opinion/international/3545188-have-sanctions-against-russia-boomeranged/): "the Western sanctions campaign against Russia has been largely ineffective," spurring China to continue its "expansionist program." The Hill asks the logical question: if restrictive measures have so little effect on Russia, what is the point of threatening China, whose economy is ten times larger than Russia's? Not without a slap in the face to Biden: "The president boasted too early that the sanctions were 'undermining the Russian economy' and that 'the ruble is turning to rubble. "Russia's financial position remains strong."
🔸What's more, even one of the mouthpieces of the Democratic Party, Voice of America, has admitted that there is no way to contain Russia economically. The publication covers (https://www.voanews.com/a/yellen-pushes-plan-to-cap-price-of-russian-oil-on-global-markets-/6659366.html) a statement by U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, who said during a speech at the G20 in Indonesia on July 14 that the United States insists on implementing a plan to force Russia to sell oil on the world market at artificially low prices.
To get its crude on the market, Russia relies on various deals with international lenders, shipping firms and insurance companies. The plan proposed by Yellen is to cut Russia off from these services beginning in late 2022.
◽️The Voice of America admits, "If fully implemented, the results of sanctions could be bad for everyone. Russia would lose its oil revenues, and the rest of the world would experience potentially devastating price increases due to the supply shock caused by the sudden withdrawal of Russian oil from the market."
🔸 Bloomberg didn't miss the news either: oil strategist Julian Lee published (https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-06-26/russian-oil-putin-would-never-agree-to-capping-prices) an analysis of Yellen's plan, summarizing that the scheme "has very little chance of success."

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov hopes, the figure of killed Ukrainians is below 100,000. By CNN🔻
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said he believes tens of thousands of Ukrainians have been killed since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
Speaking to CNN's Matthew Chance in an exclusive interview, Reznikov refused to give exact figures of Ukrainian losses, but he said he "hopes" the figure is below 100,000.
Reznikov said he disagreed with the most recent US assessment that 16,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since the invasion, saying he believes their casualty numbers to be considerably higher.
As of June 15, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), recorded 4,452 killed since the invasion, of whom, 280 were children. The eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk -- where Russia's bombardment has been continuous -- saw 2,583 of the recorded total deaths. The OHCHR believes actual figures to be "considerably higher."
Millions of Ukrainians have been displaced by the war, with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on June 14 recording 5,094,531 refugees scattered across Europe alone. In the rest of the world, they estimate there are 6.1 million Ukrainian refugees.
France wishes to see Ukraine take back control of Crimea as part of a military victory against Russia, according to a French diplomatic source.
The remarks came as French, German and Italian leaders visit Kyiv. The source was speaking to pool journalists traveling with the French delegation on Thursday.
"We are for an integral victory with restoration of territorial integrity on all territories conquered by the Russians, including Crimea,” the French official said, referring to the Black Sea peninsula that Russia forcibly annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
Once the war is over, talks will be necessary to determine the sort of security guarantees for Ukraine and the relationship between Ukraine and NATO, the diplomatic source said, in order “to know how we build a lasting peace.”
"What is at stake is the security of us all,” they said, adding that, a Ukrainian “military victory is for Zelensky to define.”
Some background: French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi arrived in Kyiv on Thursday.
The three leaders have traveled to Kyiv by train, where they are expected to convene with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and express "a message of European unity."
Speaking to reporters on the platform as he arrived at Kyiv train station, Macron said the leaders will also visit the site of an alleged massacre.
Asked if he had a message for Ukrainians, Macron said he had a "message of European unity addressed to Ukrainian men and women."
"The coming weeks, we know, will be very difficult," he said. "I want to support them and be at their side."
CNN's Pierre Bairin in Kyiv contributed reporting to this post.

❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Donbass offensive: situation in eastern Ukraine for July 15, 2022 by @rybar:
▪️In the past 24 hours, Ukrainian formations carried out several raids on the territory of the Russian Federation: in the evening, using a UAV, the AFU dropped an explosive device on a library in Grayvoron, Belgorod region. The enemy also fired mortars at the border villages of Neslitsy and Dronovka in Kursk and Bryansk Regions.
▪️ The Russian Armed Forces hit enemy positions in the settlements of Kucherovka and Pokrovka in the Sumy Region.
▪️ Ukrainian forces continue to reinforce defensive positions in northern Kharkov region.
➖ Additional observation posts were equipped in the vicinity of Russka Lozova, Konstantinovka, and Cherkasskiye Tishki. Rotations were carried out in Zolochev, Peremoh and Konstantinovka.
➖ During the night, missile units of the Russian Armed Forces launched massive strikes on AFU positions in the east of Kharkiv and near Kholodnaya Gora. In an attempt to cover the city from missile attacks, SAMs of an unspecified type were moved into the city.
▪️The main events in Donbass are taking place in the Bakhmut (Artemivsk) direction:
➖In the Slavyansko-Barvensk direction, servicemen of the 95th Army Brigade of the AFU attempted to force the Seversky Donets River near Bogorodichnoye, but were ambushed by the Russian Armed Forces. During the battle, the unit suffered losses and retreated.
➖ The AFU command is making preliminary preparations for the second line of defense on the line Slavyansk-Kramatorsk-Konstantinovka. Some of the most combat-ready units have been withdrawn from Seversk, but it is extremely premature to talk about the start of fighting for the city itself.
➖Units of the allied forces are fighting on the outskirts of Verkhnyakamenskoye. The occupation of the settlement will make it possible to reach the outskirts of Seversk from the east and establish fire control over the road Seversk - Soledar.
➖ After occupying Novaya Kamianka and Stryapovka, LNR units engaged in combat on the eastern outskirts of Soledar. To the north of Soledar, units of the allied forces are fighting for control over Yakovlevka.
➖Russian forces are actively probing the enemy defenses near Kodoma and Vershina.
▪️The Russian Armed Forces launched massive strikes against enemy targets in Dnepropetrovsk and around Kremenchug in the Poltava region in the evening hours.
▪️In Zaporizhzhia Region, the sides continued their artillery duel: the Russian Armed Forces struck enemy positions near Huliaypol, Shcherbakov and Malyi Shcherbakov.
▪️On the Krivoy Rog direction, several Perun and Stinger man-portable air defense systems were deployed to the advanced positions of the AFU in order to counteract the tactical aviation of the Russian Air Force.
