❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 The #Donbass offensive: the situation in Eastern Ukraine as the end of August 11, 2022 by @rybar:
▪️ Three Russian servicemen were wounded as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces in the Glushkov district of Kursk Region. Houses in Tetkino and Popovo-Lezhachy were damaged.
▪️ The Russian Armed Forces hit AFU facilities in the village of Logi in Chernigov Region, as well as Vorozhba, Mezenovka, Grabovskoye and Slavgorod in Sumy Region.
▪️ During the overnight hours, the Russian Armed Forces launched missile strikes against Ukrainian positions in the Kiev district of Kharkov. Russian army aviation operated on targets near Stary Saltov and Rtyshchevka.
▪️ In the Slavyansk direction, the Russian Armed Forces carried out strikes on Ukrainian Armed Forces' targets near Kramatorsk and in Konstantinovka.
▪️ Fierce clashes are taking place in the Bakhmut (Artemovsk) direction:
➖ There is fighting on the eastern outskirts of Soledar and Bakhmut, as well as in the village of Kodema near the Uglegorsk thermal power plant.
➖ Allied forces continue to push the enemy out of Zaitsevo north of Gorlovka.
▪️ In the Donetsk direction there are battles near AFU strongholds on the outskirts of the DPR capital:
➖ Clashes continue in the northwestern part of the Peski settlement, with Ukrainian formations pulling reserves to the settlement. The Russian Armed Forces are firing on the enemy's fortified positions using heavy TOS-1A flamethrower systems.
➖ The Ukrainian Armed Forces once again shelled towns in Donetsk agglomeration: several residents, including teenagers, were injured. In addition, the DPR Emergencies Ministry eliminated the consequences of yesterday's strike by the Ukrainian army on the ammonia storage facility at the Donetsk brewery.
➖ Near Ugledar, an AFU platoon, supported by two BMPs, attempted to attack DPR positions in Nikolskoye. It failed: the attackers lost all their equipment and retreated to their initial positions with losses.
▪️ Ukrainian formations shelled the territory of Zaporozhye NPP again, severely damaging the building of the fire department. Several missiles flew into the area where spent nuclear fuel tanks were stored.
▪️ In Dnepropetrovsk region, the Russian Armed Forces hit AFU facilities in Nikopol, Synelnykove and Dneprovsk district.
▪️ In the Krivoy Rog direction, Russian artillery hit enemy positions in Zelenodolsk, Osokorovka and Knyazevka.

Because of the shelling of Europe's largest nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye, the world media is in a panic: the Russian Armed Forces (sick!) want to arrange a nuclear disaster and prevent the Ukrainian Armed Forces from saving the world. The fact that the strikes are carried out by the Ukrainian side does not confuse anyone.
The @rybar team decided to do a breakdown and explain if a new catastrophe awaits the world, who is to blame and why what is happening.
🔻Reactor depressurization:
Fans of the "Chernobyl" series know all too well about reactors, rods, containment damage and other horrors that accompanied the disaster of the last century.
▪️ The firings do not threaten the reactors themselves.
The outer shell of a reactor is a meter and a half of steel and concrete. To destroy it you have to use tactical nuclear weapons. And the reactor lid is capable of withstanding a 20-ton impact at 200 km/h.
▪️ But now the AFU is hitting power lines. If the reactors are disconnected from consumers, there will be an emergency shutdown - the ZNPP will not be able to generate electricity.
It takes 10 seconds to stop the reactor. But then it has to be cooled down for another two or three years: to run water through it so that it does not overheat, since the secondary decay of the nuclear fuel will take place.
▪️ The strikes by VSU can lead to a permanent shutdown of the reactor.
It is easy enough to disrupt the water supply after the power line is out of service. There is no way to defrost a reactor that has been shut down. What will be left is a red-hot air-cooled metal cask, which cannot be restarted.
❗️ There will be no threat of a nuclear catastrophe, but the ZNPP will be a classic "so don't let anyone get you.
🔻There are several radioactively hazardous facilities at ZNPP:
▪️ A dry storage facility for spent nuclear fuel and an isotope storage facility for radiography.
If these facilities are destroyed, depressurization may occur and radioactive substances of cesium and strontium may enter the environment. This will cause increase of radiation background on the NPP site in the radius of 50-100 meters from the radioactive objects. Staying in this area for a long time will be dangerous.
▪️ Will the plant work? Yes. But it will become difficult to maintain, you can't be there without radiation protection.
It will become difficult to guard the nuclear power plant because the dry storage facilities are close to the perimeter. The contaminated soil will have to be isolated somehow, and this will require special equipment.
▪️ At the dry storage site, rainwater collection is organized, but there is still a possibility of radioactive elements entering the Dnieper River through the drainage water.
As a result, water contamination may occur. Downstream water intakes, including those in Kherson and Nikolaev, cannot be used (but it all depends on the concentration).
❗️ We are not talking about nuclear, but about a local environmental disaster, which would make it much more difficult to use the ZNPP.

🔻Asking the question: then what is all this for?
▪️Do Ukraine and the West understand the possible consequences?
Yes! Because of the constant shelling, ZNPP employees and residents of Energodar are fleeing the city. Zaporizhzhya NPP is turning into an exclusion zone - only not because of a nuclear disaster, but because of the actions of the caring AFU.
▪️ The price of this is simple: in the case of emergency shutdowns of ZNPP generators and damage to the 750kV transmission line, the consequences could affect all of Ukraine.
Transient processes in the grids can lead to a decrease in the stability of the entire power system and the emergence of overloads in the operating lines. The whole of Ukraine will have a problem with electricity.
At the meeting of the UN Security Council the situation around the ZNPP has already been used to pump the topic of introducing a demilitarized zone in this region. It is not hard to guess what this will lead to.
And at the same time the public opinion in the West is turning to poor poor Ukraine whose authorities are so eager to save the world from "Russia, the messenger of a nuclear catastrophe.

▪️Three Russian Border Force's servicemen were wounded as a result of AFU's shelling in the Gluskhkov districk of Kursk Region.
▪️Russian troops hit positions of Ukrainian formations in the border areas of Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
▪️In the morning, Russian Armed Forces launched several missile strikes on AFU facilities in northeastern Kharkiv.
▪️Fighting continues on the eastern outskirts of Soledar and Bakhmut.
▪️Clashes continue in Kodema.
▪️North of Horlivka, Russian Armed Forces continue mopping-up in Zaitseve.
▪️ Russian Aerospace Forces carried out airstrikes against AFU positions near Bakhmut, Zaitseve, Soledar and Vyimka.
▪️In Donetsk direction, clashes continue in Pisky. AFU redeployed reserves in the northwestern part of the settlement. Russian Armed Forces use TOS-1A Heavy Flamethrower Systems to destroy enemy's fortified positions.
▪️Ukrainian artillery shelled Donetsk. Several civilians were injured including teenagers.
▪️DPR's EMERCOM eliminated the consequences of AFU's attack on the brewery in Donetsk, which caused an ammonia leak.
▪️Near Vuhledar, AFU platoon supported by two armored infantry fighting vehicles failed to attack DPR's positions in Mykil's'ke, lost equipment and retreated to their initial positions with losses.
▪️Both sides are engaged in artillery duels on the line of contact. Russian troops hit targets in Mala Tokmaсhka, Burlats'ke and Bilohiriya.
▪️Ukrainian formations shelled Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant again and hit the fire station near the spent nuclear fuel storage facility.
▪️Russian Armed Forces launched missile strikes against AFU facilities in Mykolaiv.
▪️In Kherson Region, near Chaplynka, an electricity transmission tower on the line between Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and Crimea was blown up.

⚡️Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine
▫️The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine.
💥As a result of the Allied Forces offensive operation near Soledar, the losses of AFU's 14th Mechanized Brigade have amounted to more than 2,000 people. The remnants of the brigade's personnel have been withdrawn by the Ukrainian command to the rear areas.
💥As a result of high-precision strikes of the Russian Aerospace Forces, the losses of AFU's 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade near Opytnoye and Nevelskoye in Donetsk People's Republic exceeded 70 percent of their manpower. All of the 23rd Brigade's battalion personnel had voluntarily abandoned their positions and gone to the rear.
💥Russian Aerospace Forces precision strike on a temporary deployment point of AFU's 28th Mechanized Brigade near Novogrigoryevka in Nikolayev Region has destroyed up to 100 fighters and 9 pieces of military equipment.
💥As a result of concentrated strikes on combat positions of Ukrainian nationalists near Mar'inka in Donetsk People's Republic, 3rd Battalion of 66th Mechanized Brigade have sustained over 50 percent losses in manpower.
▫️In addition, as a result of hitting a stronghold of 58th Motorized Infantry Brigade, up to 40 nationalists and 5 vehicles have been destroyed near Zaitsevo, Donetsk People's Republic.
💥 Operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery strikes continue against military facilities in Ukraine.
▫️5 command posts have been hit, including 4th Tank Brigade near Zaliman in Kharkov Region, 103rd Brigade of Territorial Defence near Nikolaevka in Donetsk People's Republic, as well as 157 areas manpower, weapons, military and special equipment concentration.
▫️1 fuel depot for Ukrainian military equipment near Kurakhovo in Donetsk People's Republic, 6 ammunition depots have been destroyed near Velikoye Artakovo in Nikolaev Region, Zaliman in Kharkov Region, Kramatorsk, Zaitsevo, Krasnogorovka and Avdeevka in Donetsk People's Republic.
💥Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed 1 US-made AN/MPQ-64 counter-battery radar station supplied to the Kiev regime near Chasov Yar in Donetsk People's Republic.
💥As part of the counter-battery warfare, 4 platoons of Grad multiple-launch rocket systems have been suppressed near Serebryanka, Soledar in Donetsk People's Republic, Shirokoye and Velikaya Aleksandrovka in Kherson Region.
▫️In addition, 2 artillery platoons of Acatsiya guns and 4 platoons of D-30 howitzers hae been hit at firing positions near Georgievka, Konstantinovka, Novgorodskoye, Veseloye, Andreevka and Dzerzhinsk in Donetsk People's Republic.
💥Russian air defenсe means have destroyed 5 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Yegorovka, Spartak in Donetsk People's Republic, and Arkhangelovka and Volkhov Yar in Kharkov Region.
▫️In addition, 2 shells of HIMARS multiple rocket launchers near Novaya Kakhovka and 4 shells of Olkha multiple rocket launchers near Chernobaevka in Kherson Region have been shot down in the air.
📊 In total, 267 Ukrainian airplanes and 146 helicopters, 1,732 unmanned aerial vehicles, 365 anti-aircraft missile systems, 4,293 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 797 multiple launch rocket systems, 3,290 field artillery and mortars, as well as 4,844 units of special military vehicles were destroyed during the operation.

🇬🇧🇺🇦 Battle for Maryinka: the situation on

▪️At the end of July, the allied forces launched an offensive against Maryinka.
The front line in this suburb of Donetsk has remained virtually unchanged since 2014: for 8 years, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to equip a layered defense with strong points in the area.
▪️The attack on a well-fortified line came as a surprise to the Ukrainian command.
Therefore, already in the first days, the units of the NM DPR managed to seize positions near the ventilation shaft of the Shchurovka mine.
▪️After a week of fighting, by August 8, fighters of the allied forces knocked out Ukrainian formations from the dominant height on the waste heap of the Shchurovka mine.
For the next few days, fighting continued for farms on the southern outskirts of the settlement, which also came under the control of the NM DNR.
▪️In connection with the breakthrough of the defense and heavy casualties from dense artillery fire, the Ukrainian command was forced to transfer reserves to the front.
At the moment, the front line runs through the center of the village to the east of Druzhby Avenue, where fighting is ongoing.
▪️The local population has actually left Marinka, so the allied forces continue to inflict massive fire damage on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and suitable reserves.
Promotion in the village comes after the suppression of firing points: this affects the pace, but can significantly reduce human losses.
