❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Highlights of Russian Military Operation in Ukraine on August 9, 2022
▪️Air defence systems in Belgorod Region intercepted several missiles fired from Ukrainian territory.
▪️ Russian Armed Forces hit Ukrainian army positions in the border areas of Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
▪️Large explosion with ammunition detonation happened near Saki airfield in Crimea. One person was killed and several others were injured. The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
▪️Russian missile troops and artillery hit targets in Kharkiv, while the Russian Aerospace Forces attacked AFU positions near Verkhnii Saltiv.
▪️Advancing Russian units are fighting on the outskirts of Verhn'okam'yans'ke to the east of Sivers'k. Clashes continue in Ivano-Dar'ivka area.
▪️LPR People's Militia soldiers are fighting for Yakovlivka. Intensive fighting is taking place to the south in the section from Kodema to Vesela Dolyna.
▪️Allied Forces have fully liberated Knauf Gips Donbass in Soledar, which was one of AFU defence hubs at the outskirts of the city.
▪️ Wagner's PMC units continue fighting on the eastern outskirts of Bakhmut (Artemivsk). Intensive artillery shelling of AFU positions is under way.
▪️Allied Forces continue to advance towards Avdiivka and have entered Krasnohorivka and Staromykhailivka. There is fighting in the settlements.
▪️In Mar'inka, DPR People's Militia units have knocked out AFU from their positions around the Shchurove mine heap and are advancing towards the centre of the village.
▪️Position fighting continues in Peski on the northwestern outskirts of the settlement.
▪️Ukrainian artillery shelled Donetsk: two civilians killed.
▪️During the night, AFU attempted to strike Nova Kakhovka and Beryslav. The missiles were intercepted by air defence mean.
▪️ Russian Armed Forces struck target in Mykolaiv. A large fire broke out at the site of the strike.

⚡️Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine
▫️The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine.
💥High-precision strikes of the Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed 1 ammunition depot of the 54th Mechanised Brigade in Krasnogorovka, Donetsk People's Republic. The losses on the Ukrainian side amounted to up to 30 servicemen, over 6,000 artillery shells and mortar shells of various calibres, as well as 7 vehicles.
💥As a result of the Russian Aerospace Forces' strikes on the temporary deployment points of the 93rd Mechanized Brigade of AFU near Andreyevka, Kharkov Region, up to 100 nationalists and over 20 units of military equipment have been destroyed.
💥As a result of Russian Aerospace Forces' strikes, the 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade of AFU has lost its combat effectiveness near Peski, Donetsk People's Republic. Up to 70% of personnel has been eliminated. Most of the Ukrainians mobilised citizens to make up for the brigade's losses, refused to move to the line of contact and deserted.
💥Operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery strikes continue against military facilities in Ukraine.
▫️5 command posts have been hit, including those of the 46th Airmobile Brigade near Andreyevka, Kherson Region, the National Guard's Khortitsa regiment in Kushugum, Zaporozhye Region, Aidar nationalist formation in Novoselovka, Donetsk People's Republic and the 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade in Nikolaev city.
▫️7 ammunition and mossile and artillery weapon depots have been destroyed near Nikolaevka, Fedorovka, Vyemka in Donetsk People's Republic and Kushugum in Zaporozhye Region.
▫️1 Gepard anti-aircraft missile and gun system supplied to Kiev regime by Germany has been destroyed near Novopavlovka, Nikolaev Region. In addition, 1 launcher of Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile system has been destroyed near Kramatorsk, Donetsk People's Republic.
💥As part of the counter-battery warfare 2 Ukrainian platoons of Grad MLRS, as well as 2 artillery platoons of D-20 guns and 2 platoons of D-30 howitzers at firing positions near Kirovo, Seversk and Verkhnekamenskoye of Donetsk People's Republic have been suppressed.
💥Russian Aerospace Forces fighter aircraft have shot down 3 Ukrainian Air Force aircraft in aerial combat over the territory of Nikolaev Region: 1 Su-25 near Novokhristoforovka, 1 MiG-29 over Troitsko-Safonovo and 1 Su-27 near Novosel'e.
💥Russian air defence means have destroyed 9 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Chervonyi Yar, Andreyevka, Pervomaiskoye, Vernopol'e, Novoye in Kharkov Region, Ivanovka, Peski, Valer'yanovka in Donetsk People's Republic and on the western outskirts of Donetsk city.
▫️In addition, 2 Tochka-U ballistic missiles have been shot down in the air over Krynki, Kherson Region, and 7 shells of HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system near Novaya Kakhovka, Lyubimovka and Chervonyi Mayak, Kherson Region. Also, 4 shells of Smerch multiple-launch rocket system have been intercepted near Veselyi Kut, Nikolaev Region.
📊In total, 267 Ukrainian airplanes and 145 helicopters, 1,720 unmanned aerial vehicles, 365 anti-aircraft missile systems, 4,283 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 795 multiple launch rocket systems, 3,286 field artillery and mortars, as well as 4,807 units of special military vehicles were destroyed during the operation.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦🇺🇸 On August 7, the Russian military found wreckage of a new type of AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missile in Ukraine, which had not previously been used in combat operations. The missiles belonged to NATO, but the United States initially refused to acknowledge its involvement in supplying the missiles.
On July 28, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that the missiles would be supplied from Europe, but no confirmation were provided. The AGM-88 HARM (High-speed Anti-Radar Missile) is designed to destroy radar stations. This missile was developed in 1982. Its length is 4.17 meters and the weight of the warhead is 66 kg. The range of missile launches is from 25 to 150 km. The missile has built-in special devices that track radio waves and aim at radio wave sources. On the back of the missile there is a marking “BSU-60 A/B”, the marking gives out the American production of missiles.
These missiles were not included in the official U.S. arms supply lists. The Pentagon did not initially comment on them either.
The HARM missiles had already been used in combat. Ukrainian-made aircraft were not designed to use HARM missiles, otherwise, they would have had to be heavily upgraded, as almost the entire Ukrainian air fleet consists of Soviet-era aircraft.
At the moment, there are several speculations that on August 9 the Russian troops were hit by American planes flown by Ukrainian pilots or that American fighter jets simply flew into Ukrainian airspace and carried out a series of strikes. U.S. authorities deny the incident, as they also deny supplying missiles.
Back in March, the U.S. began to form a strike group of F/A-18G Growler aircraft, which are designed to fight air defense. The planes have special signal jammers and create interference over a large radius. HARM missiles are compatible with these aircraft . The missiles were on the US balance sheet and they will be included in the new military aid package.
On August 8, the Pentagon has already confirmed previous shipments of missiles to Ukraine. The Pentagon announced that Washington had sent Kyiv anti-radar missiles that could be used by Ukrainian aircraft against Russian radars.
At a press conference, Deputy Defense Secretary Colin Kahl said that Washington had sent some missiles to Kyiv in the latest shipment, without specifying the type or number of missiles, which turned out to be HARM missiles. Kahl noted that the missiles could be fired from Ukrainian aircraft. This was the first official confirmation from the U.S. side of the transfer of AGM-88 HARM missiles to Ukraine. Kyiv did not publicly acknowledge receiving or using HARMs, but the wreckage of this particular American-made missile was found on Ukrainian territory. Kahl also announced a $1 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which is supposed to be mainly spent on ammunition.
Providing military supplies, training the Ukrainian military and sending US citizens fighting together with Ukrainian soldiers, the US and other Kiev’s Western allies are already at war with Russia.
