Now that Ukraine is fighting Russia on its territory, Ukrainians get our sympathy. Feelings of goodwill should not translate into allowing odd ideas to permeate Western academia, but unfortunately the talk of “decolonizing” Russian history has become a trend. It amounts to substituting the word “Russia” or “Russian” that was used during the period of time in question with “Ukraine” or “Ukrainian.” For instance, the ethnic Pole and Russian Suprematist painter Kazimir Malevich can be renamed Kazymyr Malevych and declared Ukrainian.

Are the APU crossing the Dnieper or not yet? Analysis of the military chronicle. Part 1
Talk about a possible landing operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was conducted long before the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. However, the plans of the Ukrainian army to cross the Dnieper and impose a fight on the Russian troops on the left bank face several serious difficulties.
Where are the APU going to force the Dnieper?
Even before the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the plans of the Ukrainian command included three possible “entry points” to the left bank. One of the options included sending a landing group towards Energodar and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant - from Nikopol to Kamenka-Dneprovskaya through the bed of the shallowed Dnieper no more than 5 km. The second direction is Dudchany - Velyka Lepetikha, where it is necessary to overcome about 10 km. The third direction is landing below the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the area of the Dnieper dachas, right under the Antonovsky bridge, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to gain a foothold even before the dam was blown up. Fighting in this place is going on at the moment, but can this be considered an amphibious landing?
How to understand that the Armed Forces of Ukraine crossed the Dnieper?
Any landing operation involves two stages. At the first stage, the assault units occupy a bridgehead several kilometers wide for the arrival of the main forces and hold it, while the main forces carry out the main phase of the operation. At the moment, there are from 35 to 70 Ukrainian servicemen in the area of Antonov's dachas on the right bank of the Dnieper. They are blocked by Russian troops near the water and cannot break through further. Their supply is carried out exclusively on small boats, so it’s not worth talking about a serious threat from there at the moment. Bringing ammunition in small batches for 50 people is one level of supply. Providing ammunition for several battalions is another level, at which kilograms of ammunition should turn into tens of tons every few days. In addition, do not forget that it is almost impossible to take the wounded out of the small patch of land where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now located, so for the majority of the Ukrainian military, such an operation is a one-way ticket.
What will the Armed Forces do?
The first thing Ukrainian troops need to break through is heavy equipment. It is impossible to deliver it across the Antonovsky bridge: it has been destroyed. Delivering equipment through the guidance of the crossing is incredibly difficult. It is necessary to deploy an impressive pontoon park in a short time, and such a cluster of equipment and any events near the bridge will be clearly visible not only from a drone, but also from space.
The use of high-precision bombs FAB-250/500 with universal planning and correction modules delivers especially many problems for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the Antonovsky Bridge. As soon as enough forces accumulate on the right bank that the Armed Forces of Ukraine want to throw on the left bank, an air strike is launched on the positions. In addition, the positions of Ukrainian troops on the right bank of the Dnieper are regularly “processed” by rocket artillery , as a result of which there are constant fires and explosions of ammunition.
Ukrainian troops are not yet at risk of transferring air defense systems to the right bank: it is likely that the transfer will be detected and Russian troops will launch a fire raid on air defense positions or hangars with equipment. And this should happen in parallel with the arrival of dozens of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine should transfer covertly in order to avoid the destruction of equipment. In this case, we are talking not only about air defense systems, but in general about any equipment that needs to be delivered to the site of the crossing. Under such conditions, there can be no talk of conducting a full-fledged landing operation. We will talk about what goals the Armed Forces of Ukraine plan to achieve by forcing the Dnieper in the second part of our analysis.
❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Highlights of Russian Military Operation in Ukraine on June 27
▪️Another act of sabotage was committed by Ukrainian agents on the territory of the Crimean peninsula.
The detonation of an explosive device damaged railroad tracks in the Kirovsky district.
▪️In the Starobilsk direction, Russian forces continue to press the AFU near Kremenna.
Several more enemy strongholds on the territory of Serebryansky forestry were captured.
▪️Near Bakhmut, the AFU launched several attacks on Russian positions near Klishchiivka.
So far, the defending units manage to hold the onslaught of Ukrainian forces, but the situation in the area remains quite tense.
▪️Near Mar’inka, the most intense fighting is to the southeast, where Russian units are trying to take the dominant heights.
Success in this section of the front will open up opportunities for an offensive against the settlements of Pobjeda and Novomikhailivka.
▪️In the Vremivka sector, the enemy, having captured Rivnepol, concentrates forces to the southwest and conducts an offensive on Pryyutne.
Also noted the activity of sabotage groups of the AFU in the direction of Staromayske.
▪️No intensive combat operations are observed in the Zaporizhzhia direction due to heavy precipitation.
Timely artillery strikes are carried out against the transferred Ukrainian reinforcements near Robotyne and Pyatykhatky.
▪️In the Kherson direction, heavy fighting continues in the area of Antonovsky bridge.
The enemy actively uses means ofair defense and electronic warfare, hampering the actions of Russian aviation.

Part I
◽️ The AFU have continued their attempts to conduct offensive operations in Krasny Liman, Donetsk and South Donetsk directions during the previous 24 hours.
▫️ In Krasny Liman direction, due to actions of the Tsentr Group of Forces units two enemy attacks have been repelled.
▫️ Aviation and artillery inflicted losses on the 63rd and 67th mechanised brigades of the AFU near Chervonaya Dibrova, Chervonopopovka (LPR) and Serebryanka (DPR).
▫️ Actions of two sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the AFU have been thwarted close to Chervonaya Dibrova (LPR).
▫️ Over 100 servicemen, four armoured fighting vehicles, three pick-up trucks, D-20 and D-30 howitzers, as well as two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery units have been eliminated in this direction during the day.
▫️ In the Donetsk direction, seven enemy attacks have been successfully repelled in course of the Yug Group of Forces units active defence during the day.
▫️ Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems have eliminated up to 325 sevicemen, one tank, three infantry fighting vehicles, and five motor vehicles during the day.
▫️ Apart from that, an ammunition depot of the 110th Mechanised Brigade of the AFU has been destroyed close to Avdeevka (DPR).
▫️ In South Donetsk direction, close to Vremevka salient, three enemy attacks have been repelled due to actions of the Vostok Group of Forces units, aviation, artillery, and heavy flamethrower system crews.
▫️ In Orekhov tactical direction, Russian troops launched strikes to stop a motorised rifle platoon of the AFU, attempting to conduct reconnaissance-in-force, and push Ukrainian troops back to the initial positions.
▫️ In addition, actions of one sabotage and reconnaissance group of the AFU have been thwarted near Rabotino (Zaporozhye region).
▫️ Up to 115 servicemen, five armoured fighting vehicles, including Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, three pick-up trucks, Msta-B and D-20 howitzers have been destroyed.
▫️ In Kupyansk direction, Ground-Attack and Army aviation, as well as artillery of the Zapad Group of Forces inflicted losses on the units of the AFU close to Krasnoye Pervoye, Sinkovka, and Berestovoye (Kharkov region), Novoselovskoye and Stelmakhovka (LPR).
◽️ Moreover, an ammunition depot of the 60th Mechanised Brigade of the AFU was destroyed close to Ogurtsovo (Kharkov region).
▫️ More than 30 servicemen, two armoured fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, a D-20 howitzer, and a U.S.- made AN/TPQ -36 counter-battery radar station have been destroyed during the day.
▫️ In Kherson direction, up to 30 servicemen, three motor vehicles, and one Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer have been destroyed over the past 24 hours.

▫️ A communication centre of the 110th Mechanised Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been destroyed close to Avdeevka (Donetsk People's Republic).
▫️ A command post of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was eliminated close to Vyemka (Donetsk People's Republic).
▫️ Russian air defence forces have intercepted two HIMARS MLRS projectiles during the day.
▫️ In addition, six unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed during the day in the areas of Verknekamenka (Lugansk People's Republic), Mirnoe and Pshenichnoye (Zaporozhye region).

The Armed Forces of Ukraine seized a bridgehead on the Kurdyumovskaya dam , located south of Bakhmut on the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal.
Enemy-published footage shows the planting of a flag on one of the well-identifiable dam structures, which was previously controlled by the Russian army.

However, the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine act clearly with caution, put the flag in the first place they come across and immediately run away. This means that the RF Armed Forces still retain control over Kurdyumovka itself.

▫️ Russian Aerospace Forces have carried out high-precision strikes on oil refinery and fuel storage facilities that support the AFU troops in Donbass. All the assigned targets have been neutralised. The goal of the attack has been reached.
▫️ The AFU continued unsuccessful attempts at offensive actions in South Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Donetsk directions.
▫️ In Donetsk direction the units of the Yug Group of Forces have successfully repelled five enemy attacks close to Artyomovsk, Pervomayskoye, Petrovskoye and Vesyoloye (DPR).
▫️ Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems have destroyed over 240 servicemen, 2 armoured fighting vehicles, 2 pickup trucks, and a Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery system.
▫️ In South Donetsk direction, close to Vremevka salient, as a result of the courageous actions of the units of the Vostok Group of Forces, two enemy attacks by a motorised infantry company have been repelled close to Staromayorskoye (DPR).
▫️ In Zaporozhye direction, Russian troops continued air, missile and artillery strikes on enemy reserve concentration areas near Orekhov, Malaya Tokmachka, Novodanilovka and Yablonevoye (Zaporozhye region). The actions of one Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group have been disrupted close to Marfopol (Zaporozhye region).
▫️ The enemy losses were up to 235 servicemen, 2 tanks, 3 armoured fighting vehicles, 2 motor vehicles, as well as D-20 and Msta-B howitzers.
▫️ In Kupyansk direction, the attacks, launched by Ground-Attack and Army aviation, and artillery of the Zapad Group of Forces, have resulted in the neutralisation of enemy manpower and hardware near Sinkovka and Kislovka, Timkovka (Kharkov region) and Novosyolovskoye (LPR).
▫️ One Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group has been eliminated near Timkovka (Kharkov region). The enemy losses were over 30 servicemen, as well as 3 motor vehicles.
▫️ In Krasny Liman direction, the competent and well-coordinated actions of the Tsentr Group of Forces have repelled two enemy attacks close to Kuzmino (LPR) and Grigorovka (DPR).
▫️ Operational-Tactical Aviation and artillery have hit units of the enemy 21st, 42nd, 63rd and 67th mechanised brigades, and the 15th Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine close to Chervonaya Dibrova, Nevskoye (LPR), and Yampolovka, Terny and Grigorovka (DPR). The activities of two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been disrupted near Serebryansky forestry.
▫️ The enemy losses were 115 servicemen, 2 armoured fighting vehicles, 3 pickup trucks, one Grad multiple-launch rocket systems, one Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system, and one D-30 howitzer.
▫️ In Kherson direction, the skilful actions by Russian troops and artillery eliminated an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance unit attempted to land and entrench itself on the northern part of Antonovsky Island.
▫️ The enemy losses were up to 50 servicemen, 3 motor vehicles, as well as Msta-B, D-20, and D-30 howitzer.

▫️ One temporary command post of the 56th AFU Motorised Infantry Brigade has been hit close to Kramatorsk (Donetsk People's Republic). The battalion command and observation posts of the AFU 63rd Mechanised Brigade and the enemy 10th Mountain Assault Brigade have been hit close to Predtecheno and Vesyoloye (Donetsk People's Republic). 1 missile and ammunition depot of the AFU 47th Artillery Brigade has been destroyed near Novopavlovka (Donetsk People's Republic).
▫️ Air defence facilities have intercepted 3 Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles and 6 HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system projectiles. In addition, 8 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been destroyed close to Opytnoye (Donetsk People's Republic), Karmazinovka, Privolye, Ploshchanka, Oborotnovka (Lugansk People's Republic), Balochki and Peremozhnoye (Zaporozhye region).

Regarding Artyomovsk and Kurdyumovka (southern flank of the Russian Artyomovsk grouping):
1. Ukrainians have taken a bridgehead at the Kurdyomovka dam over the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal. Nothing more. They have not stepped foot into the settlement itself, which remains under the control of the Russian Army. Coordinates of the dam: 48°28'15.0"N 37°56'53.0"E.
2. The Seversky Donets-Donbass canal (red line) is a natural boundary in northern Donbass, stretching from Gorlovka, west of Artyomovsk (bordering on Chasov Yar), and north to east of Slavyansk, where it draws water from Seversky Donets river.
3. The canal was likely the intended boundary target of the Russian Army’s offensive west of Artyomovsk, but Wagner PMC units were unable to secure Ivanovskoye (Krasnoye) and had to pull back from the Khromovoye (Artyomovskoye) settlement to the city borders. This was the point when the up-to-then successful pincer envelopment operation to encircle Artyomovsk had to be given up and the Wagner PMC units focused on storming the city block-by-block in a meat-grinder assault. The furthest the Russian troops got to in the north was the environs of Privolye, but they had to withdraw from there as well, because they were unable to take control over Orekhovo-Vasilyevka, and the pincer became over extended and vulnerable to flanking attacks by the Ukrainians.
4. As it currently stands, the forward movement of the Ukrainian troops is minimal in the area of Kurdyumovka. Without proper pontoon crossings upstream of the canal, it is unlikely that they will be able to exploit the bridgehead. The Kurdyumovka positions of the Russian army may become vulnerable if Kleshcheevka is compromised, but there is no evidence that this is likely to happen. Anything further south of Kurdyumovka is nearly an impossibility without a complete front breakdown (not happening).
5. Once again, the Ukrainians are planting flags on the boundary. Nothing new.
