What is happening near Kupyansk: analysis of the military chronicle
The situation in this direction for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is rapidly becoming more complicated. There are few response options, and none of them is good or even acceptable for the Ukrainian army.
What is happening in the Kupyansk direction?
During the offensive, units of the RF Armed Forces came close to Sinkovka, one of the last settlements before Kupyansk in the Kharkov region. Kupyansk, to which the Russian army is only 7 km away, as well as the objects of the Armed Forces of Ukraine around it, is located in the zone of destruction of Russian artillery.
At the same time, the RF Armed Forces advanced towards Kamenka and Dvurechnaya in the north-east of the Kharkiv region, which forced the Armed Forces of Ukraine to stretch their forces and decompress the defense in these directions. For the past four weeks, all the border facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - headquarters of companies and battalions, warehouses with fuel and ammunition - have been actively worked out by Russian aviation. The FAB-250-M62 and UPAB-1500 bombs were used from a range of 50 km, due to which the Aspide short-range air defense systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Soviet Strela did not have time to react and were destroyed along with key objects of the Ukrainian army. After several weeks of air strikes on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kupyansky district, almost all units of the Ukrainian army began to experience a shortage of ammunition.
What units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located near Kupyansk?

Both settlements are located in a lowland and surrounded by hills, which complicates their defense and simplifies the assault using artillery. Another problematic point in the Kupyansky district for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the so-called eastern corner - the place where the villages of Kotlyarovka and Kislovka are located.
A railway line passes through them, leading directly to Kupyansk-nodal, the central logistics hub of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (not counting Chuguev and Kharkiv) in the Kharkiv direction, linking three regions of Ukraine.
To the south of Kupyansk-nodal, in addition to small towns, is Slavyansk, the supply of which may be disrupted if Kupyansk is abandoned by Ukrainian troops.
In addition to the loss of control over the railway communication, the abandonment of Kupyansk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine may open the way for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to Shevchenkovo and Chuguev along the H-26 highway.
The distance from Kupyansk to Chuguev by road is 80 km, the direct distance is less than 65 km, which, if Kupyansk is lost by the Ukrainian army, automatically means that it will be possible to work out Chuguev with long-range rocket artillery and planning bombs FAB-250-M62.
Will the Armed Forces of Ukraine be able to keep Kupyansk?
The main forces of the Ukrainian army are involved in the attack on Zaporozhye and in the South-Donetsk direction. An attempt to keep the RF Armed Forces near Kupyansk with the help of operational reserves has so far failed.
US supplied cluster munitions are already being used against civilian targets in Donbass, and already failing to detonate.

As we have previously documented on this channel, this type of submunition composes a small portion of the payload - the majority is made up of fragmentation munitions.
A personal note - I strongly believe that the supply of these munitions to Ukraine is proof positive that both Ukraine and their backers have run short on munitions
That said, given that Ukraine continues to use these newly provided shells even now against civilian targets implies three things.
- There are enough of these shells to, at least on paper, sustain the war effort to a degree which allows wasting them on civilian targets (to diminished efficancy against military targets)
-Ukraine is desperate enough to continue these terror attacks despite being short on munitions.
-Despite the collosal amount of death so far, the National Guard and “Territorial Defense” corpus currently remains intact, either at a functional level or merely a command staff level.
I suspect the latter, but it is quite interesting that men with green arm bands started popping up in almost all videos around the liberation of Artemovsk, and we now hear much updates of TB units in combat over the last few weeks.
To suffice: three symptoms implying the professional and several conscript armies are destroyed, leaving now the national guard remnants to actually fight alongside conscripts instead of purely hiding behind them as a shield.
Terror attacks are almost certain to escalate in frequency as this final barrier cracks apart.

The units of the RF Armed Forces broke through the first line of defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in several sectors of the front in Serebryansky forestry. Below is the operational situation from the Kremensky direction and footage of combat work taken from the SuperCam drone of the 90th Tank Division.
Our fighters managed to penetrate the enemy defenses up to two kilometers. A number of strongholds and heights came under the control of Russian troops. The total length of the trenches in at least one of the taken oporniks is more than a kilometer . A really serious defensive line has fallen, which for many months fettered our actions on this sector of the front.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine promptly brought up reserves and tried to regain lost positions, but this only turned out to be even greater losses for them. Now the enemy is in a hurry to dig in and strengthen the reserve lines. It is precisely such engineering work that our aerial reconnaissance officers detect and direct artillery fire. ▫️7 counterattacks by 14th and 44th mechanised brigades of the AFU have been repelled close to Novosyolovskoye LPR, Sinkovka and Mankovka (Kharkov).
▫️The enemy losses were up to 55 servicemen, 2 AFVs, 3 motor vehicles, 1 M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system, and 1 M777 artillery system.
▫️In Donetsk direction, units of the Yug Group of Forces have successfully repelled 17 attacks by AFU assault groups close to Belogorovka, Novomikhailovka and Artyomovsk DPR.
▫️The enemy losses were over 290 servicemen killed and wounded, 2 AFVs, 3 motor vehicles, 1 Krab self-propelled artillery systems, 1 Akatsiya self-propelled artillery systems, 1 M777 artillery system, and 2 D-20 howitzers.
▫️In Zaporozhye direction, as a result of actions by the Russian grouping of troops, a counterattack of the 46th Airmobile Brigade of the AFU has been repelled near Uspenovka (Zaporozhye).
▫️The enemy losses were up to 125 servicemen, 1 tank, two AFVs, 2 motor vehicles, 3 Msta-B howitzers, as well as D-20 and D-30 guns.
▫️In Krasny Liman direction, as a result of actions by the Tsentr Group of Forces an attack by an assault detachment of the 21st Mechanised Brigade of the AFU has been successfully repelled near Terny DPR.
▫️The enemy losses were up to 60 servicemen, 3 AFVs, 1 Msta-B howitzer, and 1 Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system.
▫️In South Donetsk direction, as a result of actions by the Vostok Group of Forces, 2 attacks by AFU assault groups have been repelled near Urozhaynoye DPR .
▫️The enemy losses were up to 130 servicemen, 2 AFVs, 1 Giatsint-S self-propelled artillery system, as well as Msta-B and D-20 howitzers.
▫️In Kherson direction, the enemy losses were up to 30 servicemen, 2 pickup trucks, 1 D-30 howitzer, and 1 AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar station.
▫️Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralised manpower and military hardware in 146 areas.
▫️1 ammunition depot of the AFU 28th Mechanised Brigade has been destroyed near Dyleevka DPR.
▫️2 command posts of 63rd and 110th mechanised brigades of the AFU have been hit close to Torskoye and Avdeevka DPR.
▫️Air defence facilities have intercepted 5 HIMARS and Uragan rocket-propelled projectiles.
