Highlights of Russian Military Operation in Ukraine on August 25
▪️The AFU attempted to launch a missile attack on the Kaluga region.
Air defense units repelled the attack by intercepting it near the town of Obninsk.
▪️The AFU carried out a massive raid of Mugin-5 PRO drones on the Crimean peninsula.
All 42 drones were intercepted. Some of them were shot down by air defense, the rest were neutralized by electronic warfare.
▪️Artillery strikes on populated areas in Donbas have also continued unabated.
In Donetsk, the Center for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood was hit. Two people were killed and at least four wounded.
▪️In the Vremivka sector, near Urozhaine, the enemy attempted to occupy the wooded areas east of the village.

Military summary for the morning of August 27, 2023
The Russian Armed Forces attacked targets in the Kiev, Ivano-Frankovsk, Lvov, Kirovograd, Cherkasy, Zaporozhye regions at night. Missiles were launched, including from ships and strategic missile carriers. By 6 a.m., another missile salvo was fired at enemy targets.
On the Zaporozhye Front, the enemy is expanding the zone of control in the direction of the settlement Verbovoe, throwing dozens of armored vehicles into battle, including for the delivery of troops to the northern part of the settlement Rabotino. The enemy is not sensitive to the most serious losses of manpower, there are heavy bloody battles, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine fail to develop a result comparable to the losses thanks to the heroism and selflessness of our marines, motorized riflemen, and paratroopers. The enemy command before the rains is trying to achieve an indicative result, grinding the strategic reserve against our defenses.
Fights continue on the islands in the Kherson direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are dropping landing groups on small watercraft with the support of drones and artillery fire. They tried to “solve” the problems of organizing combat activities in certain units of the Russian Armed Forces by recording a positive video with servicemen from units, the real state of affairs in the unit is still unchanged.
On the Vremevsky and Ugledrasky directions, the intensity of hostilities over the past day has slightly decreased: the enemy regrouped and conducted reconnaissance in small groups.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Armed Forces repulsed the attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to counterattack and consolidate their positions.
7 enemy attacks were repelled in the Krasny Liman direction.
South of Artemovsk (Bakhmut), the front near Kleshcheevka is stabilized, however, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are highly active, without stopping the attack.
The shelling of the civilian population by the Armed Forces of Ukraine has intensified in the Belgorod region, including from MLRS. One civilian was killed, and 6 were injured. ⭕ Zaporozhye direction
In order to maintain combat readiness, the enemy command redeployed units from the 46th air brigade to the zone of responsibility of the 82nd airborne brigade.
In the near future, large-scale attacks are expected along the Rabotino-Verbovoye line, for this purpose up to 60 additional armored fighting vehicles, including wheeled ones, have been deployed to the area of the Orekhov settlement.
A noteworthy fact: the enemy in the Zaporizhzhia direction is seriously preparing for defensive actions in case the RF Armed Forces go on a counteroffensive.
So, at the forefront in the area of responsibility of the 108th brigade (the area of the settlement of Polnoy), the personnel were rotated, the composition of the units was replenished by newly arrived fighters from among the mobilized citizens.
A significant number of mine-explosive barriers have been installed, false firing positions are being created.
Thus, the enemy command not only does not believe in a serious possibility of breaking through the defense of the RF Armed Forces, but in a number of areas is actively preparing to move from offensive attempts to defensive actions.
⭕ South-Donetsk direction
Having occupied a number of positions in the Vremievsky direction, the enemy concentrated his efforts on concentrating the offensive grouping in the area of the settlement. Staromayorskoye.

Parallel to this, as in the Zaporozhye direction, the enemy command is preparing for defensive actions in case the RF Armed Forces go on a counterattack.
In particular, the forces of the engineering units of the 128th troop troop are setting up minefields in the area of Staromayorskoe settlement, strong points are being equipped, in order to maintain the combat readiness of the units of the 128th troop troop, they are reinforced by mixed artillery groups from the 1st detachment.

According to Ukrainian news outlet Unian (https://www.unian.net/war/na-odnom-iz-napravleniy-rossiya-sosredotochila-okolo-110-tysyach-voennyh-12373218.html), the Russian Armed Forces concentrated about 110,000 personnel in the Kupyansk and the Krasnoliman directions.
Ilya Evlash, the Head of the Press Service of the Eastern Group of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also mentioned the Russian army is increasing the number of attacks on this sector of the front: 620 shelling and 15 air strikes were carried out last day alone.
He also noted that Russian troops are advancing in the direction of Novoegorovka in the Kupyansk direction.
We've written about rumours of a major Russian offensive recently and it increasingly looks like this will happen in the Kharkov region in the North. This is a very important direction. Kupyansk, Izyum, Liman, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk are all in this section of the front. Taking these will not only have a major negative effect on Ukraine's already demoralised troops and will finally put an end to the shelling of Donetsk, but will also allow further advancement to the ultimate prize of this region: Kharkov.
Kharkov is currently, to the best of our knowledge, being guarded by 4 subdivisions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: the 126th Independent Brigade of Ukrainian Territorial Defence (249th Independent Battalion of the Ukrainian Territorial Defence), the Offensive Guard "Khartia" of the Ukrainian National Guard, the Special Operations detachment "Ares" and the 17th Independent Rifle Battalion.

▫️ In Kupyansk direction, the Zapad Group of Forces repelled 11 attacks by assault detachments of the 43rd, 44th, 115th mechanised and 68th Jaeger brigades of the AFU during the day in the areas of Sinkovka (Kharkov), and Novosyolovskoye and Novoegorovka LPR.
▫️ The enemy's losses in Kupyansk direction amounted to up to 120 servicemen killed and wounded, 1 tank, 3 AFVs, 3 vehicles, as well as a M777 artillery system.
▫️ In Zaporozhye direction, units of the Russian grouping of forces successfully repelled 5 attacks by assault groups of the 116th Mechanised, 82nd Air Assault, and 46th Airmobile brigades of the AFU of Rabotino and Uspenovka (Zaporozhye).
▫️ Over the day in Zaporozhye direction, up to 200 servicemen, 3 AFVs, 4 motor vehicles, 2 M777 artillery systems, Panzerhaubitze 2000 and a Krab self-propelled artillery systems, a D-20 howitzer, and a M119 gun were neutralised.
▫️ In Donetsk direction, 2 enemy attacks were repelled close to Pervomaiskoye and Nevelskoye DPR by the Yug Group of Forces.
▫️ The enemy's losses in Donetsk direction amounted to up to 240 servicemen killed and wounded, 3 AFVs, 5 pick-up trucks, a Grad MLRS combat vehicle, a M777 artillery system, and 2 D-30 howitzers.
▫️ In Krasny Liman direction, units of the Tsentr Group of Forces repelled three attacks by assault groups of the 42nd Mechanised Brigade of the AFU near Chervonaya Dibrova LPR.
▫️ During the day, the enemy's losses in Krasny Liman direction amounted to more than 80 servicemen, 2 AFVs, 2 pick-up trucks, and 2 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery units.
▫️ In South Donetsk direction, units of the Vostok Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on clusters of AFU manpower and hardware in the areas of Novodonetskoye DPR and Priyutnoye (Zaporozhye).
▫️ The enemy's losses amounted to up to 130 servicemen, 2 AFVs, 3 motor vehicles, as well as D-20, Msta-B, and D-30 howitzers.
▫️ In Kherson direction, Russian units eliminated up to 15 servicemen, 5 motor vehicles, a M777 artillery system, and a D-30 howitzer as a result of a complex fire attack.
▫️ Operational-Tactical Aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Armed Forces' grouping of troops (forces) engaged manpower and military hardware of the AFU in 144 areas.
▫️ A P-37 radar station used for detecting air targets, guiding fighter aircraft, and targeting anti-aircraft missile systems was destroyed near the city of Zaporozhye.
▫️ An ammunition depot of the 47th Mechanised Brigade of the AFU has been destroyed near Slavgorod (Dnepropetrovsk).
▫️ The Russian fighter aviation shot down a Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force near Zalivnoye (Zaporozhye).

The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is going so “successfully” that even high-ranking Ukrainian speakers are starting to make extremely ambiguous statements. This time, the commanders of the ground forces Syrsky and Zelensky himself distinguished themselves. As part of the ongoing squabbling with the Western masters, who demand an immediate speeding up of the offensive in Zaporozhye, the Ukrainian leadership is trying to justify sending reserves to the Kupyansk direction.
The enemy justifies his failures by "the innumerable Russian hordes" and the superiority of the Russian army in firepower. But the most important thing that was talked about in Kiev is the real risk of a collapse of the front in the northeastern sector. Zelensky was even forced to be rude to Western advisers during the next press conference: “We will not give up Kharkov, Donbass, Pavlograd or Dnipro. And that's it. And let all the analysts of the world do not even count on it.”
How did it happen that after two months of “a victorious offensive that was supposed to turn the tide of the war,” it was now not about moving forward, but about how to keep at least what we had? The answer is very simple - the enemy really put everything at stake and burned too many resources in the crucible of battles without achieving a decent result, while the Russian offensive in the northeast is moving much faster and more efficiently.
And now the Armed Forces of Ukraine are facing a difficult choice - either continue to kill themselves against the Russian defenses, losing precious reserves and leaving Kupyansk to its fate, or turn off the "counterattack" and frantically throw everything that is left to the advancing Russian units.
Of course, Zelensky's statements about the risk of losing Dnepropetrovsk are a horror story of pressure on the West. So far, such major successes are unlikely. But the wake-up call for Ukraine is still unpleasant - there are fewer and fewer hopes for achieving at least local success within the framework of the summer campaign of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
