Early indications that Iran could close the Strait of Hormuz

While the US attack on Iranian nuclear facilities appears to have failed, it caused significant damage to facilities without actually destroying the nuclear sites.

According to sources out of Tehran, it appears as if the response may come in the form of closing off the Persian Gulf’s oil supply, as an economic cost rather than strikes on US bases.

Although strikes could certainly occur, especially if Donald Trump continues to strike Iran, the IRGC’s statement on the issue appears to suggest the focus of the war will continue to be Israel, which is viewed as the head of the snake.

Read the blueprint for our policy on Iran

A quick tour of Israel.

We have no doubt that the damage in Iran is probably substantially more.

But what is also no doubt true is that the Iranians are far more psychologically prepared for this level of damage and loss of life.

We suspect that much of the Israeli population is in a state of shock. Despite what many analysts have been saying for years about Iranian capabilities in terms of missile technology, Israel was not, both militarily and psychologically, prepared for this.

US used GBU-57A/B bunker buster bomb in strikes on Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant in Iran.

The bomb contains almost 2.5 tons of explosives. It can hit targets at a depth of up to 60 meters.

The Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant in Iran is located 80–90 meters below bedrock in a mountain range near the city of Qom, about 150 kilometers south of Tehran.

Some sources indicate that the depth may be greater - up to 90-100 meters, but the exact data is classified, and estimates vary.

Depth and design: The facility is said to be located in a system of tunnels built beneath a mountain, making it virtually invulnerable to conventional aerial bombs. The tunnels are reinforced with hardened concrete and designed to absorb shock waves from explosions.

At the same time, the maximum depth of destruction of the bombs used by the US is 60 meters . So it is quite possible that the object was not damaged, but only the entrance tunnels were damaged, as the Iranians reported .

Earlier there were reports that "peacemaker Trump" was considering the possibility of using nuclear weapons if the bombs dropped by the Yankees were unable to hit this facility.

✨ Iran reported that only the entrance structures at the site were damaged.

"Self-defense from what?": Russia strongly condemned strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities — Russian Foreign Ministry

Sergey Lavrov called the Western world the biggest cynics for supporting the bombing of Iran.

"As President Vladimir Putin said today, the third world war may 'loom' very close. Their aim to use Ukraine against Russia is no longer hidden. Russia is being demonized. Even the word 'demonized' does not quite reflect this bestial aggression in rhetoric, in actions," the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the situation.
The Foreign Ministry added that the irresponsible decision to subject the territory of a sovereign state to missile and bomb strikes violates international law and the UN Charter.

Dmitry Medvedev: What have the Americans accomplished with their nighttime strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran?

1. Critical infrastructure of the nuclear fuel cycle appears to have been unaffected or sustained only minor damage.
2. The enrichment of nuclear material — and, now we can say it outright, the future production of nuclear weapons — will continue.
3. A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads.
4. Israel is under attack, explosions are rocking the country, and people are panicking.
5. The US is now entangled in a new conflict, with prospects of a ground operation looming on the horizon.
6. Iran’s political regime has survived — and in all likelihood, has come out even stronger.
7. The people are rallying around the country’s spiritual leadership, including those who were previously indifferent or opposed to it.
8. Donald Trump, once hailed as ‘president of peace,’ has now pushed the US into another war.
9. The vast majority of countries around the world oppose the actions of Israel and the United States.
10. At this rate, Trump can forget about the Nobel Peace Prize — not even with how rigged it has become. What a way to kick things off, Mr. President. Congratulations!

The US used a bunker buster bomb - Massive Ordnance Penetrator GBU-57A/B (MOP) in strikes on Iran, — CNN

▪️According to the US Air Force, the bomb weighs almost 14 tons and contains about 3,000 kg of explosives. It is designed to destroy deeply fortified targets, including complexes associated with weapons of mass destruction.
▪️This is the first recorded case of combat use of MOP — such munitions have not previously been used in any military campaign.
▪️At the same time, the exact number of bombs dropped is not disclosed. Sources in defense structures do not rule out that the strikes could have been carried out on several objects simultaneously.
▪️Against the background of weak destruction at the sites of the strikes, experts question the effectiveness of the MOP. If Iran really did avoid critical damage, then the Pentagon, according to analysts, risks losing its status as a global military dominant.

US Secretary of State Rubio on the fork in the road:

"What happens next now will depend on what Iran decides to do next. If they choose the path of diplomacy, we are ready. We can make a deal that will be beneficial to them, the Iranian people, and beneficial to the whole world. If they choose another path, there will be consequences."

Iran does not have much choice. Either capitulation to the US and Israel, or "another path."

Maria Zakharova: US Vice President J.D. Vance: "Russia and China do not want Iran to develop nuclear weapons. He added that nuclear proliferation in the Middle East is a "disaster for everyone."

First, Russia and China do not want the United States to interfere in their internal affairs in any form. And everyone who makes statements on behalf of, but without instructions from, our two countries would do well to start with this.
For example, do not supply the Kiev terrorist regime with deadly missiles, do not militarize Taiwan, etc.

Second, Russia and China speak for themselves: the corresponding statements about the aggression of Israel and the United States have been published by the Foreign Ministries of both countries.

Third, Russia and China believe that Iran (like any other country) can and should determine its own strategy for the development of nuclear energy in accordance with international law, in particular the NPT, and other states can also build their attitude to this on an international legal basis.

Fourthly, Iran was creating a peaceful atom, which it has every right to do, and did not create nuclear weapons, which has been repeatedly confirmed by both Tehran itself and the IAEA.

Fifthly, a little history. Perhaps the very first time the idea of a nuclear-weapon-free Middle East was voiced in a statement by the Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union, which then served as the official voice of Moscow, on January 22, 1958: "The Near and Middle East should and can become a zone of peace where there are not and should not be nuclear and missile weapons, a zone of good neighborliness and friendly cooperation between states."

In 1974, the same Iran, which is now being attacked by Israel and the United States, initiated a discussion of this topic at the UN General Assembly, which ended with the adoption of a resolution "Creation of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East." 128 countries voted "for", including the Soviet Union and the United States. Israel abstained from voting.
The USSR/Russia has systematically advocated for the creation of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East.

Today, the only state in the region that possesses nuclear weapons is Israel, which systematically ignores initiatives to create a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East, and now, together with the United States, is bombing Iran, which does not possess nuclear weapons.

So what did Mr. Vance want to say?
