Russian Defense Ministry on progress of special military operation as of 1 January 2026

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

📍 The Sever Group of Forces improved the tactical situation and inflicted losses on the formations of two mechanised brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and one territorial defence brigade close to Kondratovka, Khrapovshchina, Novaya Sech, Khoten, and Ryzhevka (Sumy region).

💥 In Kharkov direction, units of two motorised infantry brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been hit close to Volchansky Khutora and Liman (Kharkov region).

▪️ The AFU losses amounted to up to 190 troops, 11 motor vehicles, an electronic warfare station, and two materiel depots.

💥 The Zapad Group’s units inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of two mechanised brigades, two assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and two national guard brigades near Kupyansk-Uzlovoy, Podoly, Glushkovka (Kharkov region), Drobyshevo, Krasny L…
