The Kherson direction has not undergone significant changes. The enemy in Krynki, which had been razed to the ground, even tried to become more active, hitting the rear areas with cannon artillery and HIMARS MLRS. He organized massive raids on the region and neighboring Crimea with his UAVs but did not achieve his goals. The enemy is experiencing problems in the front sector in manpower: they urgently began to transfer personnel from the territorial defense to the Marine Corps. In the Western and Ukrainian press, the unsuccessful operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is explained by Zelensky’s personal PR, which is achieved at the expense of losses.
On the Zaporozhye front, the Russian Armed Forces began to push back the enemy near Rabotino in local battles. Verbovoy has counter-fights. Units of the 7th Airborne Division conduct daring raids on armored vehicles in the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian army, as a result of heavy fighting, broke into the outskirts of Avdeevka, the remnants of the enemy in the cottage village “Vinogradniki” near the industrial zone are being eliminated. At the neck of the “Avdeevka Sack,” our zone of control is gradually expanding, the enemy is withdrawing troops from other sectors of the front and transferring them to Avdeevka. The fighting is fierce and bloody.
From the Artyomovsky direction, our troops are advancing in the direction of Chasov Yar. The city must be taken from the north due to the terrain, the battles are taking place near the village. Bogdanovka, Khromovo, Kleshcheevki. Our offensive actions were reported north of Soledar.
Local battles are taking place near the Torsky ledge, in Serebryansky forestry, and the Kupyansky direction.
The Geranium UAV is constantly striking throughout the entire depth of enemy territory. Hypersonic Kinzhal missiles hit Western air defense systems near Zhitomir. The enemy does not stop shelling the civilian population of the front-line regions, and tries to accumulate aircraft-type UAVs for massive attacks on our rear areas, but does not achieve success: most of his missiles and drones do not reach their targets.

Nearly two-thirds of Ukrainian businessmen believe the war will end within the next two years. A recent article in The New Voice of Ukraine (https://english.nv.ua/business/ukrainian-businesses-see-war-ending-in-2025-but-remain-optimistic-on-revenues-employment-50377064.html) states, "40% of the Ukrainian business community believe that the war in Ukraine is likely to end in 2025...another 24% expect the war to end in 2024".
They don't ask how the war will end.
The poll was conducted in the first half of December this year. This also the current financial situation regarding economic support for the war.
The poll may accurately reflect perception on when the conflict ends. But the answer to the real question is certainly more bleak than anyone in Ukraine wants to admit.

What is behind the reports of a new counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2024?
At the moment, there have been no official statements on this matter - neither from the NATO leadership nor from the leaders of Western countries allies of Kiev.
What is important is that so far the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or Ukraine has not said anything definite about this. In other words, most of the information about the offensive is rumors.
Let us note that statements from Ukrainian officials generally boil down to demands for new supplies in the spirit of “we would attack, but we don’t have enough.” And then follows a long list of weapons and military equipment.
Given the sharp reduction in supplies and the uncertainty with future supplies, it is difficult to discuss the prospects for the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive plans in 2024.
Where do the reports of counteroffensive plans come from?
Usually, these are private opinions of experts or journalists, often pro-Ukrainian.
For example, Die Welt quotes a security expert and political adviser: “Ukraine is likely accumulating resources for a new counter-offensive next year.”
What supports such opinions?
Nothing. Lange's key thesis is that he describes a hypothetical military action: "What the Ukrainian counteroffensive might have been like if..." - and then goes on to list the conditions for that "would."
There is no officialdom behind the Die Welt material and Lange’s private opinion. At least at the time of publication.
What sources do Western journalists use? Of course, convenient for reinforcing your position.
Thus, Die Welt journalist Alfred Hackensberger supported his conversation with Lange with data from the pro-Ukrainian OSINT community Oryx, which is administered by Bellingcat employee Jakub Janowski.
We emphasize that the distorted OSINT data, which was relied upon by major Western publications and expert communities (think tanks) in the field of defense and security, undoubtedly influenced the preparation and course of the summer-autumn offensive campaign of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
They played a significant role in propaganda, forming a series of persistent narratives about the losses and lack of combat readiness of the Russian Armed Forces, while at the same time overestimating the combat capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This design turned out to be double-edged, and already in June 2023, false narratives began to collapse as a result of the successful actions of the Russian Armed Forces.
It is noteworthy that immediately after the failure of the counteroffensive, the Oryx project, which churned out delusional statements, was hastily closed, and all publications on the resource’s Twitter account, where information about the success of the offensive was disseminated, were deleted.
Should we take rumors of a second offensive seriously?
Now chaos reigns in the Western information field, caused both by uncertainty regarding the future fate of the Kiev regime and Ukraine as a whole and by a critical lack of reliable data.
Statements from openly pro-Ukrainian sources should be treated with a fair amount of skepticism—and at a minimum, they should be double-checked.

Two news stories published by CNN this week are completely opposite of each other:

Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation (17 December 2023)
Part I
▫️ In Kupyansk direction, units of the Zapad Group of Forces supported by aviation, artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems repelled nine attacks of AFU 115th mechanised, 95th air assault brigades near Sinkovka and Terny (Kharkov region).
The AFU losses amounted to more than 50 servicemen, one infantry fighting vehicle, and two armoured fighting vehicles.
In the course of the counter-battery warfare, two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems and two D-30 howitzers were destroyed.
▫️ In Krasny Liman direction, units of the Tsentr Group of Forces and artillery repelled one attack of the AFU 12th Special Forces Brigade close to Kuzmino (Lugansk People's Republic).
Ground-Attack aircraft and helicopters inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of AFU 67th, 109th mechanised brigades near Serebryansky forestry and Rozovka (Lugansk People’s Republic).
Up to 90 servicemen, one armoured fighting vehicle, and three motor vehicles were destroyed.
▫️ In Donetsk direction, units of the Yug Group of Forces supported by artillery and heavy flamethrower systems repelled four attacks launched by assault groups of AFU 24th mechanised, 5th assault, and 79th air assault brigades near Krasnoye, Kirovo, Maryinka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Aviation and artillery launched attacks at manpower and hardware of AFU 30th, 67th mechanised, 57th mechanised infantry, 3rd assault, 79th air assault, and 112th territorial defence brigades close to Vesyoloye, Artyomovskoye, Krasnoye, Kleshcheyevka, Kurdyumovka, and Andreyevka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The enemy has lost up to 250 servicemen, one tank, three armoured fighting vehicles, and five motor vehicles.
In the course of the counter-battery warfare, one U.S.-made M777 artillery system, one U.S.-made M119 gun, and one Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system were eliminated.
▫️ In South Donetsk direction, units of the Vostok Group of Forces, Operational-Tactical aircraft, helicopters, artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems repelled two attacks of the AFU 79th Air Assault Brigade near Novomikhailovka (Donetsk People's Republic).
Manpower and hardware of AFU 58th mechanised infantry, 127th, 128th territorial defence brigades suffered losses close to Urozhaynoye, Staromayorskoye (Donetsk People’s Republic), and Priyutnoye (Zaporozhye region).
Up to 100 servicemen, one tank, and three pickups were destroyed.
In the course of the counter-battery warfare, one U.S.-made M777 artillery system, one D-20 howitzer, one Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar station.

The enemy lost up to 50 servicemen killed and wounded, one tank, and three motor vehicles.
In addition in the course of the counter-battery warfare, one French-made Caezar artillery system, one Msta-B howitzer, and one D-20 howitzer were destroyed.
▫️In Kherson direction, as a result of the Group’s units, artillery, and aviation strikes the enemy losses were up to 95 servicemen, one tank, and 12 motor vehicles.
In the course of the counter-battery warfare, one Msta-B howitzer, one D-20 gun, one Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and one Nota electronic warfare station were eliminated.
▫️Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, and Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have engaged the AFU 47th Mechanised Brigade’s command post.
One HIMARS MLRS launcher was eliminated near Konstantinovka (Donetsk People’s Republic), as well as fuel depots and aircraft warehouses close to Kanatovo airfield in Kirovograd region and Starokonstantinov airfield in Khmelnitsky region, and manpower and hardware of the AFU in 132 areas during the day.
▫️Air defence systems shot down two MiG-29 and one Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Forces near Yelizavetovka (Nikolaev region), Druzhkovka and Dobropolye (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Two HIMARS MLRS projectiles and one JDAM guided aerial bomb were intercepted.
In the past 24 hours, 91 unmanned aerial vehicles were eliminated close to Staromikhailovka, Berestovoye, Belogorovka, Spornoye (Donetsk People’s Republic), Zmiyevka, Krovosheyevka, Novodruzhesk, Zolotoryovka (Lugansk People’s Republic), Pershotravnevoye (Kharkov region), Novoye, Mirnoye (Zaporozhye region).

🔹#Bakhmut (#Artyomovsk) Direction:

🔹#Donetsk Direction:
