Russian EW Superiority
“What radio-electronic warfare? . . . We had none. I don’t even want to recall those days in the trenches. Our boys were falling like flies,” one Ukrainian soldier told the Financial Times (https://archive.is/6KXCz#selection-2301.0-2301.151)
Despite Ukraine's claims of increasing domestic production and western supplies the disparity between Russian EW capabilities and Ukrainians is accepted as fact among western think tanks.
Jack Watling of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) told the Financial Times, “The problem is that the Russians are able to field electronic warfare systems across most of the front, down to platoon level in some cases when you’re talking about things like Pole-21."
Exploitation of Ukraine as a testing ground for western weapons is widely reported. But such exploiation has been used to Ukraine's advantage in some cases. Now, Colonel Ivan Pavlenko of the General Staff is trying to convince western military contractors to use Ukraine as a testing ground for products in development. "Where best to test it if not in Ukraine?"

The Prosecutor General's Office has prepared a draft law on the prompt blocking of unlawful content: "At present, the Prosecutor General's Office, together with the Russian Ministry of Digital Media and Roskomnadzor, is working painstakingly to improve the mechanism for countering the spread of unlawful content on the Internet. Joint efforts have developed a draft law regulating the prompt decision to block malicious sites using a specialized information system. In 2023, the Prosecutor General's Office sent over 2,000 demands to Roskomnadzor for extrajudicial restriction of access to information on the Internet. A quarter of them (555 demands in relation to 69,000 Internet resources) - to stop the dissemination of inaccurate information discrediting the actions of the Armed Forces and authorities."

Looks like America's land based nuclear weapons are a wee bit long in tooth. Military.com notes:
The aging Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles that have formed the land-based leg of the nation's nuclear deterrent triad for half a century can no longer be upgraded and require costly replacements, Adm. Charles Richard, head of U.S. Strategic Command, said Tuesday.
"Let me be very clear: You cannot life-extend the Minuteman III [any longer]," he said of the 400 ICBMs that sit in underground silos across five states in the upper Midwest.
"We can't do it at all. ... That thing is so old that, in some cases, the drawings don't exist anymore [to guide upgrades]," Richard said in a Zoom conference sponsored by the Defense Writers Group.
Where the drawings do exist, "they're like six generations behind the industry standard," he said, adding that there are also no technicians who fully understand them. "They're not alive anymore."
Richard rejected suggestions by several think tanks that the incoming Biden administration should consider life extensions for the Minuteman IIIs as a cost-saving measure, delaying replacement with new missiles called the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD).
"I don't understand, frankly, how someone in a think tank, who actually doesn't have their hands on the missile looking at the parts, the cables, all of the pieces inside" can make judgments on the way forward, he said.
The 2018 Nuclear Posture Review, conducted by then-Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on the order of President Donald Trump, called for a $1.2 trillion modernization of the triad, with an estimated $85 billion going to the new GBSD missile system.
Suspect that if they said $1.2T in 2018, it's a few more trillion. US military has an impressive ability when it comes to massive cost overruns.

Most of the explosions occurred in the Kievsky district of Kharkov - four large factories are located there
Readovka reports this. (https://t.me/readovkanews/72048)
It is reported that almost all the explosions that sounded in Kharkov fell in the Kievsky district of the city, and this is not accidental. Several large industrial enterprises are located there.
Among them are the Aviation Production Enterprise, the State Scientific and Production Enterprise Kommunar Association, which specializes in the production of launch vehicle control systems, the State Enterprise KhMZ FED, which produces hydraulic motors and hydraulic pumps, and PJSC Khartron, which works in the field of railway transport.
In the conditions of SMO, each of them most likely works for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and therefore is a legitimate target for Russian missiles.
In Ukraine, almost 400 settlements are without power due to a sharp cold snap, and the accumulation of wet snow and ice.
Half of them are in the Dnepropetrovsk region. Another 80 in Kirovograd, more than 50 in Odessa and Nikolaev.

The suspect and his two accomplices purchased 50 thousand body armor for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which did not meet the requirements and could not be used in the army. Ukrainian media, showcasing the destruction of Auchan in Krivoy Rog, fail to mention that inside the shopping center, there was a warehouse terminal and a workshop for the production of large UAVs and FPV drones ordered by Ukroboronprom. It has been completely destroyed.
The presumed owner of this shopping center is Ivan Bakanov, Zelensky's classmate and former head of his election campaign.
Today, in Krivoy Rog, there are numerous facilities owned by the families of Zelensky, Stefanchuk, and Bakanov, where the production of weapons, rations, uniforms, and other items purchased by Ukroboronprom under government orders is underway.

Also, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny reported that “critical, civilian infrastructure, industrial and military facilities were attacked.”

A video has appeared with simulations of attacks on buildings when using Caliber, Iskander, Bastion, and Kinzhal
The video demonstrates why attacks on civilian targets (which Kiev accuses the Russian Armed Forces of during massive attacks) cannot be carried out with weapons from our arsenal.
It is obvious that if the target of the Russian troops were residential buildings, then upon impact there would be nothing left of them. But the Kiev regime continues to lie that the Russian missiles “were all shot down,” and those that were not shot down supposedly hit civilian targets.

From Lebanon to the Red Sea, a broader conflict with Iran looms
With its proxies attacking from many vantage points and its nuclear program suddenly revived, Iran is posing a new challenge to the West - this time with Russia and China on its side. (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/07/us/politics/iran-us-israel-conflict.html)
It is a reflection of a sharply altered power dynamic: Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Iran no longer finds itself isolated. It is suddenly in an alliance of sorts with both Moscow and China, two members of the U.N. Security Council that, in a past era, supported Washington in trying to limit Iran's nuclear program. Now, that deal is dead, ended by former President Donald J. Trump five years ago, and suddenly Iran has two superpowers not only as allies, but as sanctions-busting customers.
The cancellation of that treaty was a bit silly from Donald Trump, but it's definitely not the main reason Iran is now closer with Moscow and Russia and I doubt it's why Iran resumed its nuclear program. I suspect it has more to do with Israel's bully tactics (context doesn't matter from their point of view), our cretinous foreign policy decisios regarding sanctions and "seizure of actives", our incredibly hostile attitude towards them, our threats and so on. No one should be surprised with any of this. Iran, India, China and Russia will only become closer, along with Saudi Arabia creating a very strong alliance, one that'll be able to withstand any thievery our State Department comes up with - or any war.

Strana:
“Putin wants neither a frozen conflict nor peace,” Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Pais.
The minister also believes that Russia will be able to break through Ukraine’s defenses at the front if the West does not provide assistance.
Let us note that Kuleba’s statement that Putin does not want to freeze the war sharply contrasts with all previous statements by representatives of the Ukrainian authorities, who claimed that the Kremlin’s goal is precisely to freeze the conflict.
And now, as we see, Kuleba says that Putin is not interested in freezing, but wants to continue to fight.
Let us note that such a statement was made against the backdrop of publications in Western media (though not officially confirmed) that the positions of those who advocate a truce on the current front line and negotiations with Russia are strengthening in the United States and the EU.
Zin Note: Kuleba has a rude awakening if he thinks more aid will help the Kiev regime resist the Russian war machine.
Unfortunately, the intelligence network of the Kyiv junta continues to work in Russian Crimea and leak information about military installations to Bandera militants.

Draft dodgers catch draft dodgers – somewhere in Europe, that same Ukrainian swimmer who evaded mobilization by swimming across an icy river found himself in the hands of fellow runaway comrades
The meme (https://t.me/Slavyangrad/83169?single) story about the will to live and zeal for Europe, featuring an Odessa resident who swam across the icy river on the border with Romania to escape the TCC, continued. As if convinced that nothing would threaten him within European borders, the man fell into the clutches of his angry compatriots. The fame brought by the TikTok video played a cruel joke on the swimmer – they weren't too lazy to locate him and attempt to capture his remorse for escaping.
The irony of the situation is that the judges are fellow draft dodgers, although they entered the EU in a less extreme and cinematic manner.
Jokes are already circulating on the Internet that far beyond the front line, Ukrainian fugitives have opened a new front and are fighting each other...
