British aircraft carriers were unable to go to sea for NATO exercises
The flagship was unable to put to sea due to a broken starboard propeller shaft. It was planned to be sent to the shores of Norway for the largest NATO exercise since the Cold War.
The ship will be replaced by a second aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, but there is a catch - it will only be able to go to sea in a week, at best.
London previously announced that it would send 20 thousand troops to participate in NATO exercises Steadfast Defender.
