Situation as of the end of December 5, 2024

The situation in Deir ez-Zor province remained relatively calm over the past day, with no reports of fighting along the Euphrates River.

▪️This was confirmed by the commander of the "Deir ez-Zor Military Council", Turki al-Diri - a pro-American Arab militia that is part of the "Syrian Democratic Forces". According to him, they have suspended their offensive on settlements controlled by the government in Damascus.

▪️The reason for this, as stated by the militant commander, was the limited support from the American contingent at the Conoco base, the lack of coordination of their actions with the SDF leadership, and a shortage of military equipment: only 15 units were distributed across four attack areas.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 On the Attempt to Strike Crimea with USVs

By midnight, we had reported that the enemy had been spotted near Crimea, where a Ukrainian unmanned surface vessel (USV) was destroyed. But that was not all. Throughout the night, Russian sailors, pilots, Rosgvardia troops, and special forces repelled an attack by the AFU.

🔻The first wave of USVs was detected even before midnight. Naval aviation fighters of the Black Sea Fleet, Su-30SMs, were sent to intercept them and destroyed six USVs about 30-70 km from Sevastopol.

▪️Closer to 4 AM, a group of USVs was spotted moving south of Sudak, Gurzuf, and Cape Opuk. They were then detected south of Cape Takil, and a Ka-52 helicopter was scrambled to intercept them, but they disappeared from view.

▪️By 6 AM, a group of boats appeared near the Kerch Strait. Mi-8 helicopters and units ensuring the security of the transport corridor were scrambled to deal with them.

The attack groups now represent a fairly coordinated structure, with faster reconnaissance elements, cover units, and strike USVs equipped with more firepower.

Since the enemy did not achieve its goal, and the number of means involved shows that the USVs have been accumulated, we can conclude that he will not stop there, and the attacks may be repeated.

The situation on the border of Hama and Homs provinces continues to deteriorate rapidly.

▪️Overnight, airborne operations were carried out by the 25th Special Purpose Division ("Tiger Forces") in the settlements of Khattab, Maardas, as well as the vicinity of Kamhana and the strategically important height of Zayn al-Abidin. The "Tiger Forces" also managed to enter the Hama military airfield and straighten out the front line north of the settlement.

❗️However, this did not affect the advance of the militants in any way.

▪️Militants continue to move towards Homs along the M5 highway, simply bypassing the blocked areas. Nighttime strikes on the bridge in the Ar-Rastan area did not lead to the desired result - the bridge was only damaged.

▪️Moreover, the militants are gradually expanding their control in the vicinity of Ar-Rastan and Tell Bisa on the northern outskirts of Homs (these are the same areas from which militants were withdrawn during the de-escalation agreements, so the local population there remained from among those militants who openly sympathized with the ideas of the Syrian revolution).

▪️East of Hama, the militants claim to control several more settlements, in particular the strategically important Ithriya and the long-suffering Akerbat, which were once liberated by the Wagner PMC.

Footage from there has not yet appeared, but given that the "Tiger Forces" are now engaged in the north of Hama, they could have been pulled from this area in order to try to straighten out the front line.

▪️Local sources also confirm the passage of militants in this direction and the pulling of equipment to this area, which is quite logical, given that the bandit formations are moving through open desert areas.

❗️The situation is deteriorating rapidly. Moreover, at this stage, there is a threat of disrupting communication on the Deir ez-Zor-Palmyra-Homs section, which will lead to the encirclement and loss of control over the situation in the area of the strategically important Tifor airfield, as well as a deterioration of the situation in the long-suffering Palmyra.

At the same time, the militants are placing a big bet on the semi-encirclement and envelopment of Homs, which is the last stronghold that separates the militants from a dash towards both Damascus and Tartus.
