⚡️ On 18 December, a missile strike was delivered at the Kombinat Kamensky enterprise in Rostov region from the territory of Ukraine.

for December 18, 2024
Russian forces carried out a series of strikes on the enemy's infrastructure and industrial facilities in several regions of the so-called Ukraine over the past day. Ukrainian formations, in turn, attacked the Rostov Region and the liberated territory of the Zaporizhia Region with Storm Shadow cruise missiles.
In the Kupiansk-Svatove direction, Russian troops crossed the Oskol River and consolidated south of the settlement of Dvorichne. Battles are ongoing in the area to expand the bridgehead and form a stable front on the right bank of the river.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian Armed Forces significantly expanded the "wedge" in the Shevchenko - Novotroitske area, liberating Novyi Trud and pushing the enemy back from several positions north of Pushkino.
In the Kurakhove direction, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian troops liberated Trudove and Stari Ternî. At the same time, on the southern flank, the Russian Armed Forces completely pushed the enemy out of Uspenovka and raised the Russian flag on its northwestern outskirts.
In the Vremivka direction, heavy fighting is underway in the area of Razdolne and Novyi Komarov. In the latter, contrary to some reports on the Internet, the presence of the AFU is still maintained.

We whole heartedly agree with the basic conclusion to this piece, that NATO doesn't need to, and shouldn't, militarily compete head to head with Russia. But the reasons given are pure drivel.
The article is from the Quincy Institute, which is representative of the leftish "correct thinking" arm of the liberals in America, the "PMC" as some call it, the Democrat voting urban professional classes, for whom all existence can be faithfully represented in a spreadsheet.
According to the article:
Russian GDP is 24.5 times smaller than the combined GDP of NATO members and 11.5 times smaller than in the U.S. Its population is seven times smaller than the combined NATO population and almost two and a half times smaller than the American population. Its much expanded total military headcount is only 45% of the size of NATO standing armies. In an attritional war with NATO, which Russia has always sought to avoid, it would not have the demographic or economic reserves to win out.
They seem to not have noticed a few minor details, such as that NATO seems unable to produce ammunition at scale or that the US has lost every war for the past 3 generations.
Or that GDP is not considered a serious measure of anything by serious economists.
Or how ridiculously expensive NATO weapons are.
Or the extreme tooth to tail ratios in NATO armies.
Or the fact that there is an ocean between Europe and America (logistics...)
Or the changed nature of warfare.
Or the Middle East, Taiwan and Korea.

One of the topics of Vladimir Putin's "direct line" was the issue of infrastructure in the new regions: according to him, Russia has the strength and resources to restore its historical territories.
