Russia-Ukraine Reports - 2023-08-30
Big Serge Excerpt: The proliferation of the Lancet and similar systems means, in a nutshell, that nothing within 30km of the contact line is safe, and this in turn disrupts the AFU’s deployment of critical support assets like air defense and engineering, magnifying their vulnerability to Russian mines and fires. In fact, we’ve increasingly seen Ukrainian artillery use decline in the Robotyne area due to the threat of lancets (they seem to be transferring tubes to other fronts), and the AFU is favoring the use of HIMARS in the suppressive role.

A Skeptic's Best Guess On Final Map (Revised)
Our previous Best Guess was based on a political solution. It’s clear now that lives lost is not a factor. A political solution is now all but ruled out. The west wants to bleed Russia, without any particular strategy. The west will fight to the last Ukrainian Soldier and Polish Mercenary.

It was an exceptionally "hot" morning in Kiev today.
This marks the first time such large-scale attacks have occurred since the spring of this year.
Multiple groups of Russian drones penetrated Kiev from various directions, followed by missiles launched from the Tu-95MS strategic aircraft that struck the Ukrainian capital.
Footage above shows the aftermath of these strikes.

❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Vremyevsky site
situation as of 14.00 August 30, 2023
In the Vremievsky sector, Ukrainian formations are regrouping due to heavy losses during attempts to occupy the Staromayorskoye-Urozhaynoye line. Marines of the 35th Marine Corps of the Ukrainian Navy were withdrawn to Shevchenko for restoration.
At the same time, Russian fighters are engaged in a shooting battle with units of the 1st rifle battalion of the 1st tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a landing a few kilometers west of Staromayorsky, knocking out the Armed Forces of Ukraine from their positions. Now Russian artillerymen are conducting a massive shelling of the front line.
🔻However, the enemy continues to accumulate reserves for an offensive with the aim of breaking through to the Sea of Azov . Three groups of the 23rd Mechanized Brigade arrived in Rovnopol after being understaffed, and assault detachments of the 31st Ombre also returned to the line between the Shelter and Cherished Desire after restoration.
And to the north, five artillery crews of M777 howitzers with long-range precision-guided munitions and six self-propelled howitzers "Akatsiya" were pulled together to the north to Berezovoi and Shevchenko .
❗️Also, five British Challenger tanks and an unidentified air defense system were deployed to the Kurakhovo railway station. It is not yet clear where the weapons will be directed: it could be both Marinka and Avdiivka .
But it can also be the South Donetsk direction , which is more important and promising for the Ukrainian command due to the need to cut off the land supply of the Russian Armed Forces grouping in the Zaporozhye region .

For weeks now, all eyes have been on Rabotino, but now, it appears, the AFU had grown tired of smacking their heads against the wall there. Pressure now appears to be focused in the area between Rabotino and Verbovoye. This strategy carries its own difficulties, as they are now moving across open ground where they are more vulnerable to artillery and aviation. However, this new strategy allowed them to gain territory rather quickly, even at a massive cost in lost lives and equipment to serve them in the information war.
All I can say is, "It's a bold strategy, Cotton, let's see if it pays off for em."

Orekhov direction, situation as of 15:00 on August 30, 2023
At Rabotino, due to significant manpower losses and the impracticality of moving south through the village, the Ukrainian group's command adjusted its plans. They shifted the 82nd Separate Airborne Assault Brigade forces to the eastern area of Rabotino.
With combined efforts from two battalions of the 82nd and 46th brigades of the Airborne Аssault Troops of Ukraine, they launched an attack on the positions of the Russian army northwest of Verbovoye. This attack was supported by artillery fire targeting the front line with cluster munitions.
Additionally, separate assault groups reinforced by detachments from the Ukrainian SOF, initiated a southern offensive towards the heights of 136.8 and 110.3 in the Krivaya Balka area. They managed to advance slightly in this direction, although they are encountering artillery and aviation fire.
In the second line of reinforcement, troops from the 118 SMB 10th Operational Corps of the AFU, along with second-echelon units from the 15th brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, were transferred to Malaya Tokmachka. However, their movement south is hindered by the destruction of the crossing over the Konka near the village.
Currently, the AFU are primarily focusing on suppressing anti-aircraft missile systems and radars of the Russian Federation. Three Su-27s equipped with HARM missiles are operational in the air on a daily basis. The Bukovel electronic warfare system is operational in Krasnaya Krinitsa.
As part of the counter-battery efforts, 148th Аrtillery Brigade units of the AFU have been deployed in settlements north of Orekhov. These units are supported by UAV teams, working towards the establishment of reconnaissance and strike complexes within the artillery troops.
The enemy's overall plan is clear: they aim to breach the defense between the villages, using sheer numbers to overwhelm the front line and utilizing artillery to weaken the defensive positions of the Russian Armed Forces. The example of Rabotino illustrates that this strategy hasn't been particularly successful. However, a little to the east, they have managed to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from a few strongholds, and they continue to apply pressure, disregarding their own losses.

The attack on the Pskov airfield was inflicted from the territory of Ukraine, and nothing is surprising in this
When the first news about the attack on the Pskov airfield had just arrived, a lot of exotic versions immediately appeared on the Web, one better than the other. Either it was a strike directly from the territory of Estonia, or the Ukrainians drove the bulk carrier into the Baltic Sea and launched drones directly from it.
Unfortunately, all this is just an attempt to justify to ourselves how it happened that the enemy was able to hit targets at a distance of 800 km in our deep rear. And even more, unfortunately - this is not surprising. And we will have to live with it and work further.
Firstly, the declared range of the Beaver drones is 800 km. Through some manipulations, it can be brought up to 1000 km. That is, in principle, the enemy can even reach out to St. Petersburg or even Kazan - not to mention Pskov.
Secondly, as we have written, low-flying UAVs made of wood or composite materials are an inconvenient target for air defense. To ensure reliable detection, tracking, and defeat of such drones, we need a multiple number of radars (backed up by a system of visual observation of the sky, as during the Second World War), air defense systems, and cannon air defense systems (which are backed up by groups of "hunters" with small arms weapons). All this must be correctly distributed throughout the vast territory of Western, Southern, and Central Russia.
To be frank, it will take almost more human, industrial, and financial resources to ensure that such strikes do not happen again than it would to simply deal with Ukraine.
There will be no peaceful solution. We don’t have a rear in which you can relax and not think about security - the enemy can strike everywhere. All these are clear and transparent maxims, and the sooner we accept them and begin to live by them, the easier it will be for us to win.
