No single POTUS can control the security state, they basically run on their own. The Donald tried a few times but wasn't willing to risk his life on it (just ask JFK how that worked out ). I really don't know what the solution is without a true and large scale popular uprising. There's a classic line in the tv mini-series Waco where the head of the Fat Boys International "Hostage Negation" team says that law enforcement is out numbered 5,000 to 1 in America and if the people ever lose a true 'fear" of the state, the people will probably win. Same goes with the Clowns in Action and others. If they truly had to face millions of engaged Americans, they would melt away like ice on a hot day. This is very late empire stuff, a 21st century Edward Gibbons could be watching it in real time instead of sitting among the ruins of Rome a millennium later and thinking about it all...
Although I've watched/listened to MacGregor a 'million' times, I enjoyed that interview. But I disagree on Trump being antiwar because Trump just says whatever he thinks will be popular. I don't believe that he has any belief beyond himself. Trump stopped Presidential control of drone strikes, and let the CIA and Generals decide when to kill. Consequently, he out-trumped Obama (which took a lot). Considering how many civilians the US slaughters with its drones, I believe in more check and balance. No US president in my adulthood, has been a good guy. MacGregor offers great info and analysis but he is biased towards an administration, which suggests political intent.
That's too simple for me. It's become rhetoric for political bias. I'm not American, so maybe its easier for me to despise the State as a whole, instead of choosing a messiah.
Trump, like those before him, favoured the rich in the class war. That kills Americans. He increased the military budget despite his claims to pull back the troops from foreign countries. He ran away from the responsibility of drones meant to be under his command.
The normal bullshit is for candidates to lie. The Democrats did it, for example, by yelling about Trump's border wall which Obama was building before him, and Biden continued.
Rather than choosing right or wrong, I will be right the majority of the time if I believe that whatever is being said by whoever in power is bullshit.

Who do you think Russia will nuke first¿
I have a poll going...links in the stack by my name, thank you.
Thus far no one thought Las Vegas was worth bothering to nuke first , surprisingly.

Trump started no wars.
